Bought Mario Kart DS used..

How do you do a power slide boost and whats the trick to doing a fast take off at the start of the race?

Has anyone ever stumbled across an electronic copy of the manual by chance?

Fast start is just good timing at hitting the gas right when the light changes.

To power slide, hold the left or right shoulder button as you turn, then move the control pad back and forth. The first time you will get a little blue spark near you wheels, and the second time it will turn red, then you release shoulder button for a boost.

For the boost at the start, you basically have to rev your kart up to the point just below where it will spin out. Hit the gas between 2 and 1 on the countdown.

power slide is something akin to:

-Hop using the shoulder button
-When you land, be holding an arrow in one direction
-alternate hitting left/right arrows quickly, you'll notice when you begin to warm up for the power slide
-Your cart will flash yellow sparks when the powerslide is ready

I haven't played in a long time, so I can't remember if it boosts automatically, or if you need to release and reapply the gas though.

Go to Nintendo WFC > Friend Code > Confirm Friend Code. If that doesn't show your friend code, connect to a WiFi match. You'll get a friend code the 1st time you connect to Nintendo's WiFi server.

Power Slide: Hold R button, push left and right direction button rapidly, once you see blue sparks coming out, release R button for quick boost.

Quick Start: During count down, press and hold the gas (button A) as soon as you see 2 fade.
