*bought* going to buy the Pioneer 108 unless anyone has a good objection...

my dad's old cd-rw/dvd-rom crapped out, so I'm giving him my Lite-on 401s @ 811s and getting a Pioneer 108. $86 shipped on Newegg. linkage

I've also looked at Lite-on and NEC, but I think I'm going to go with Pioneer. I've been reading the threads about it and think it'll be a good choice.

Any comments?

How well does that printer do on the disks? It sounds like a neat little thingy. Any other printers do that?

The Epson R200 and R300 both do. afaik they are the only ones that are consumer level that also print on regular paper. The R200 is $91 shipped on Newegg. It goes great 4x6" photos too. I do a lot of text labeling on my CDs, it looks great. You can also print out photos and such on it, just like you would a piece of paper. They look pretty good.

I also use Neato software and paper for making DVD case inserts. Good stuff

I just ordered one too!😀

I got some cheap Legacy 4x DVD-R media though, it was only $15 for a 50pk cake!

wow nice! I pretty much ordered the Riteks because they have the inkjet surface that I can use in my printer. My bro just got engaged so I'm "film crew" lol...DVD family movies etc. Nero did an awesome job on the slideshow...I did the photography at the candlelight dinner we set up after he proposed, then made them a slideshow DVD with audio. Turned out pretty good, and they really liked it, but I wanted to print a disc and DVD jacket for it, plus some other projects.

I love how prices drop so quick in the computer industry. It seemed like only yesterday that DVD discs were $1 each...

I picked one of these up last weekend at Fry's for $119 less a $40 rebate. Great drive, but then I had a -105 and a -107 so my expectations were high. So far, so good.
