Sadly you will probably get your money back from paypal after you do a chargeback. And your foolishness will cost the rest of us $.

This is what's killing paypal. Paypal is so quick to stop payment or close accounts. it's ridiculous.

Me? No, I rarely sell on ebay...I sell here...and it's different. The guys here tend to be A LOT more trustworthy.

What are you looking for? You looking for someone to say that "it's all going to be ok and you're going to get your money back".

The only recourse you have is to leave a negative and move on with your life...just be prepared for the seller to do the same to you.

I'm just frustrated, sorry about being a d!ck on here. I'm going to try a paypal chargeback, and I truthfully did not evne take it out of the box, but I really had no access to the charger. So I hope it goes in my favor, I'm sorry if that upsets some of you.

To the op: Yeah, it really doesn't look like much can be done. You can either cut your losses, try to resell it on ebay as a defective ipod, or nicely ask for replacement.

I agree with Nutdotnet. Although maybe I wouldn't say DIAF, but the point is that the OP did make a mistake but instead of cutting it as a loss or owning up to it, he's trying to find a way to get his money back even though the Seller did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong.

Why should the seller lose $ just b/c the OP couldn't abide by the seller's terms/conditions?

This is actually a tough call though...since supposedly the Seller stated it is working, but since the OP went outside the 7 day return policy, I must say that it's ultimately OP's fault. I hope paypal doesn't refund his money, it wouldn't be fair to the seller.

BTW, OP, can you post the auction link? You seem to not be giving us enough information about the auction or what you have done to fix your Ipod. I'm sure there are a lot of things you can try before you claim it's broken.
 
I remember that problem!!!!!! If Im right, that triangle thingy means that the connection to the mini hdd is not there.. What gen ipod is it? You might have to crack the thing open and reconnect the hdd connection... but since it fires up i would have to say its a "working" unit.... just not fully functional until you get that hdd connected correctly.

ebay is really really bad place to shop.... next time just wait for a good deal on a brand new unit from a big company.

you had given them "fair warning"? too bad, it isn't their problem that you couldn't come up with a charger in time to test it. yes it sucks that it doesn't work but you screwed yourself.

I bought an (advertised as working) ipod without a charger on ebay from some ebay company, and the company says that hteres a 7 day RMA period that they grant. I was unable to afford or come across a charger in that period, actually it took me 20 days to get my hands on a charger. Lo and behold, its broken...

I wrote them when I received the ipod that it would take more than 7 days to come across a charger... when i emailed them on 10/17 saying it was broken they wrote back saying they wouldn't grant me a refund. i paid via paypal... whats the best way to get my money back?

You didn't adhere to the terms of the transaction, now you want to change them? How much would you get your panties in a wad if a seller did that?

Take it as a lesson learned, or be a pussy and cry/whine to Paypal.

What's your Ebay ID? SO I know when to cancel the bids?

 
Hey man, if you can hear the drive spinning, listen harder to hear it clicking. I fixed an MP3 player by rapping it really hard to dislodge it and it has worked fine ever since. Alternatively, you can try putting it in the freezer for a couple of hours. I've heard about that too. If all else fails you should make sure that you water it properly. When electronics *especially expensive sensitive electronics* don't get enough water they can go bad. So just pour some water on it, or put it in the sink. Make sure it's on though, otherwise it might not know the water is there. Seriously.
