Bought an H50, comes with thermal paste already, should i replace with my MX-3?

so i bought the corsair H50 to cool my x6. i also bought a stick of mx-3 thermal paste w/o knowing H50 comes with it on there. i will be doing some serious overclocking and was wondering if i should leave the paste on that was sent with the H50, or should i replace it with my mx-3?

i gut tells me to replace it but not 100% sure.

At any rate, I believe the H50 comes with some Shin Etsu paste, so no need to replace it.

well, ok, serious for the average user. looking for 4ghz stable from my 1055t.

seems like mx-3 is pretty much the best on all reviews/comparisons

MX-3 is one of the best, but the Shin Etsu usually takes #1. As usual with pastes the difference between the top brands is negligible for most people and cost/availability/ease of use is what most people base their decisions on.

But the H50 comes with the Shin Etsu already applied, so why go to the trouble of replacing it for slightly worse temps?

ok, as long as the paste on there is good ill leave it. sucks spending 10 bucks on tube i don't need. oh well.

So your gonna get 2 nice fans for it and do a push pull config? Stock TIM should be good enough.

The paste on the H50 is (one of) the best out there. Leave it be.

It performs the same as the highest end air coolers.

Water cooling should be serious or it's useless.

If you make a sandwich with 2 fans it might get more interesting though.

i have read reviews adding 2nd fan drops another 5-7 degrees

Yeah, I OC with an H50, handles 4.2GHz on my Q9550 with ease.

The H50 fills a good role and does some things that the highest end air coolers cannot do.

Don't feel like you wasted money on the tube. You'll hit a point where because of modifications, moving to a new case, fried motherboard whatever you'll end up needing it. Much better to have a tube and not need it, than need a tube and not have it.
