lol, no they don't. It is the cost of doing business when half your inventory or more is stolen goods.
Really?, here's from Cash America's website had to say about stolen items and pawn-shops,
"
Are pawnshops stocked with stolen merchandise?
Less than 1 percent of items are identified as stolen goods.
Pawnshops are actually the worst place to try and get rid of stolen merchandise, despite what you see on television or in the movies. Pawnshops are highly regulated, work very closely with local and federal law enforcement officials, and train their staff to be on the lookout for and identify stolen property. In addition, Cash America’s pawnshops all utilize an Internet-based crime-fighting tool called leadsonline.com, in which every pawn transaction is shared with police departments nationwide on a daily basis."
So if someone paid $1,600 for a bike and it was stolen they would notify police and they would notify local pawn shops as again, if they buy something stolen and it's ID'ed buy the legit owner they have to turn it over and eat what they paid for it. Also remember the person who brought it in HAD THE FACTORY CHARGER INCLUDED, who rides an E-bike and totes the charger along when it can easily go 20 miles before a re-charge is needed. The key is for the battery tray lock, not the bike, they probably had planned on getting it out off pawn.
