tell me ANY other car that has a v6, 200/220 (hp/lbft) 22.6 cbft of cargo space, 22/30 (35 is not unheard of) MPG, and you can walk out the door at 17200 after TTL.
Take any subaru wagon and there is your direct comparison. Except the subarus will still be running when the maxx is dead.
😉 You also have the new mazda wagons. That's about all I can think of off the top of my head. The maxx actually MSRPs starting at $21K and moves straight up through 25K. GM is giving ridiculous rebates because their sales are suffering. Take away all the free money GM is giving out and the car starts to be non cost effective. At the time I was looking there was no way I could walk out the door with a v6 and what I wanted for anywhere near under 20K. I asked the salesperson why I should buy this car when I can walk over to the subaru lot down the street and get a WRX wagon for the same price.
He didn't have an answer. On top of that the salesperson was driving a mazda3
😀
I test drove a v6 Maxx when I was car shopping. I figured hey, might as well give some american cars a chance. I do not like the interior generally, as with most newer american cars. Though I LOVED the fold down front passenger seat, though that does account for some of the stated cargo space in the specs. The engine has a little power to it, but the car is a friggin fat ass hog and handles like it has jello wheels. It weighs in at nearly 3500lbs. My subaru barely hits 3000lbs and that has a AWD system. Also I was test driving a 4AT because getting one of these on the lot in MT is like asking for world peace.
The power output from that v6 wasn't very impressive though it did have the extra pickup when I needed it. As with most GM v6s it didn't feel very responsive at all.
I really didn't like the looks that much, a little too boxy for my tastes and it reminded me of the classic malibu, which I hate. Though it still functioned as a wagon as well as any other on the market.
Personally I've had bad experiences with american brand cars, except my Caprice Classic. In the end I went with a Subaru wagon. I needed the AWD and the price was right.
The only thing that matters is that you like the car. You got a great deal, so I'm sure it was hard to pass up. Have fun with your new car!
