I won a 26" Magnavox LCD HDTV in "like new" condition for $280 + $40 for shipping.

Seeing as how it is a 26", supports 1080i and 720p, and in "like new" condition...I feel like I got a really good deal on it. The squaretrade 2-year warranty would cost me $26 or something like that. Just wondering if it's a good idea.

Thanks.

$26? Hell yes. You're saving much more than that already.

Just make sure to read the terms of the warranty first... to make sure it isn't so me BS warranty like Best Buy's.

Whoa, whoa. Wait a minute. Best Buy has an amazing warranty policy. Yes, it sucks, and yes you have to argue with the store manager for three weeks in a row and threaten legal action with a lawyer present for not following the contracted policy, but in the end, the costumer wins! :) :( 117

Are you certain you even qualify to purchase the warranty? I know a lot of electronic companies limit their warranty policies to the original purchaser and require you to present the original invoice as proof. Thus, buying a TV off Ebay from someone doesn't make you the original purchaser. Better double check first.

The warranty is through squaretrade. They warrant new items for 3 years and used items for 2 years. They claim to either fix your product's defect or fully refund what you paid for it if it breaks. They charge 10% of sale price or so.

I'm saying when the pimple farmer that doesn't know Gigahertz from Gigabytes tells you that if you play soccer with your computer they'll cover it turns out to be lying, you're stuck in the cold with 2 years left on a warranty that covers a small portion of a landfill... just make sure to read the fine print and make sure it covers what you are expecting it to. I've seen warranties for online goods that cost 3% of the item, and after it is delivered the terms of the warranty cover ONLY things that are deemed 100% unpreventable. While they tout that being dropped or smashed is covered, once it is safely in your hands this is no longer true.
