Bought a Temp. Monitoring display, where to place probes?

Bought the Lian li and i want to monitor the case and CPU.
Where should i place the probes, especially the CPU to get a good reading. If it's not possible for the CPU what should i monitor then

I think the probe should go about as close to the die as you can get it for the most accurate reading....

So with the proc and the Zalman installed already, just try to "jam" in the probe from a side....possibly touching the side of the proc's heatspreader

make sure u don't push it in too much that it makes ur HS uneven on ur cpu. that would cause major thermo problems

I would remove the HS and tape it close (but not TOO close) to where the HS comes in contact with the CPU

that's correct, you don't want it to interfere with the cooling now do you?

What kind of tape? I'll be doing this soon myself.

Edit- the reason I ask is that the glue on most tape will melt if it gets too hot. This will leave a goo on your cpu that you probably don't want there.

I've used scotch tape on mine before and that hasn't happened, but I will keep that in mind next time.

I'm sure that if the board is staying hot enough to melt the glue then there's already a problem, but it did cross my mind. If scotch tape works and the glue doesn't melt or dry out from the heat, than that's good news

Hmm, hopefully scotch tape will be sufficient, i'm trying to search for high temperature tape though.

i should tape it down on the black pcb right near it so it is as close as possible to the heat shield?

actually, i taped it to the heatsink itself, not on the motherboard

ahh, perfect than...the zalman has wide sides
i just need to set the HSF on properly to get a good mark of paste for an indicator
