So I bought a new Truck over the weekend which I'll be using for work (2005 Ford Ranger Edge), one of the incentives being offered by Ford right now is a Home Depot package which I did not know about until the day after I bought the truck. So I call up my dealer and ask why I wasn't offered the deal, they said that they included it as a "cash rebate" to make my payments easier.....I said...WTF?....why wasn't I given the option and who said I needed you to help me make my payments easier? They wouldn't budge....I said fine....but this won't be the end of it. So I e-mail Ford Headquarters - Customer Relations and today I hear back from them letting me know I will in fact be given any of the packages I choose from the Home Depot special. I am one happy camper now since I was planning on buying new tools for my job and this means I get them for free now. That is all.

P.S.: All you Ford haters, don't bother crapping in this thread. I've owned several Ford vehicles and have never had any horror stories.

P.P.S.: The salesman at the dealer said I will be receiving a survey from Ford and asked me to PLEASE come in and fill out the sales survey at their office with the sales manager. Should I go fill it out at their office or fill it out on my own after the way they treated the situation with the rebate/incentive?

I bought a Saturn in 2000 and a week later found out that they were giving away $500 gift cards for buying a car that month. So I went back in and they had no problem giving me one.

The 4 packages available range from $695 to $850 in value, or I can opt to get a $500 Home Depot gift card. Got the Truck for $19K out the door with installed Security system (alarm), truck bed liner, MP3/6CD in-dash stereo and Power Package.

What a bunch of assholes. I'd tell him there is no way I'll go in and fill it out there.

BTW-I know a guy here at work who was bribed by GMC with a full tank of gas to give them the survey form to fill out for him. Nice...Way to make those surveys competely bogus.

Car dealers take customer satisfaction surveys VERY seriously. Many will bribe (*ahem* give incentives) if you promise to give them 5 stars on everything. Go in there and fill and tell them what you want. If they don't give it to you, mark all 1's in front of them and go outside and place it in a blue sidewalk mailbox, hopefully in view of the dealership.

I'm thinking either the Power Package, Outdoor Living Package or the $500 gift card. I was going to get a new drill & a couple of other things from Home Depot so the $500 gift card would cover it, but that Power Package is definitely a good one.

Oh god they whine and cry about getting a bad survey response. We got a new Pilot this year, and it took way too long for a cash purchase, IMO. We did not burn them or anything, we were just honest in noting that it took a couple of hours for them to prep the car and remove the alarm system that they tried over and over again to sell us.
The dealer was very concerned and wanted to know what they could do. READ THE DANG SURVEY AND GET A CLUE:D

That would definitely be good payback for what they did. Bastages!

The dealer did give me this "value card" which entitles me to $11.95 oil changes at the dealer for as long as I own the car which was good, but still the principle is they shouldnt' cheat customers out of incentives :)

I would ask the salesman you bought the truck from about the incentive first then all the way to the owner if you have to.If that does not work, Everytime I buy a new car G.M send me a customer satisfaction form to fill out and I am sure Ford would do the same and then I would tell them about your dealer's lack of cooperation.

Hmmm...
If you could, try this:
make a photocopy of the survey
let the dealership bribe you to let them fill in the survey.
Fill out the photocopy - send it in with a note that said:

"The dealership bribed me with a tank of gas to let them fill out the survey. Here is the actual survey. I assume that since they have poor ethical values that I can assume they are likely to attempt to rip me off in the future over such transactions as routine maintenance. Could you please alleviate my concerns as such? Thank you."

Ooooh...that would soooo burn them. Didn't think of that, but definitely a good idea. Also, Ausm, I did ask the dealer first and his manager and they gave me a negative response so that's why I decided to take it straight to Ford Customer Relations.

I like the 'Power Package' or the $500 gift card.

Even though the value on the gift card might be a little lower than the cash value of the equivalent products in the other packages the gift card gives you a lot more freedom to get what you really need and on your timetable ($100 here, $75 there, . . .) I get thousands of points from my business AmEx card each month and my favorite reward to periodically cash those points in for is Home Depot gift cards. :D Good stuff.

Heh. You should have read it in front of them. "What can we do to improve your survey responses? *wink*" "Hmm, let's see...you can shorten the time it takes to make a cash purchase, and punctually remove the alarm system if we don't want it."

Dealers usually bribe me in exchange for me practically handing over the survey to them to fill out. Don't give it up for free. I like DrPizza's suggestion.

milk those bastards for all that you can

A bad review of a dealership would look bad to the manufacturer and i've seen it many times where they spend more time telling you to fill out the survey with 5 stars than with stuff about the car that you are buying.

I have worked for a couple of dealers in the past....

They live and die on surveys, and many will bribe (first oil change free etc) customers to fill them out the "right" way. Personally I fill them out as honestly as possible, and I would never fill it out in their pressence. In your case I would make a point of explaining in full detail how the dealer refused to give you the package deal, and that you had to go through Ford directly.
