new head unit, amp, pair of component speakers, subwoofer, and remove the front license plate bracket

Adds weight and its going to sound like crap at speed with the top down anyway.

not an escalade. for limited trunk space go with maybe .5 ft3 box with 8 or 10" sub. like, 15-20 extra pounds. and sounds decent with top down and windows up (cuts down on wind-in-face)

stock radio sounds crap at low speed with top up

The CD player sounds alright with the top down and the windows up but when you have the top down you'll never have the same sounds man 😛

Just wondering - why does the Miata get tagged with a "chick" car label but not an S2000? What's so different about them? The styling?

Pretty much. The miata just has that "cute" look.

Although I've seen a few chicks driving an S2000.

I've seen chicks driving just about everything. Mustang GTs, BMW 335is, Mercedes, whatever their husbands/boyfriends buy for them. 😛

That said, there are certain cars that appeal more to a male's feminine side. 😛

The MX5 is one of them. I like it. It's a fun car.

So a manual transmission is manlier... weird way of looking at it.

So the fact that a MX-5 can be HAD in automatic means its more of a female car...even if the driver has a manual version of that car?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

You know an M3 has an automatic version available as well...

Interestingly enough my friend also just took off his front liscene plate lol 😉 I suppose its a trend with s2k owners

I'll leave the front plate on, even I do prefer the looks without it. I see no reason to give the po-po any extra reason to pull me over (must have one in CA).

There is a member at s2ki.com that makes custom sub boxes that fit neatly into the side edge of the trunk, but he charges $175 for the box alone. For the cost of completely re-doing the stereo, I could replace my home theater speakers with some nice stuff. Doesn't really seem worth it to spend that money on a system for such a noisy environment. I could see saving up for some add-ons from Escort and Viper, though. 😉

It is not manlier, but it does suggest more interest in the actual process of driving, I'm sure a lot of females drive manual, or know how, but it tends to be a male thing--like interest in cars in general.

In fairness, that's not a direct comparison, since there are plenty of Dodge Neon models that come with autos, but there are no models of S2000's that come with autos.

The Dodge Viper only comes with a manual, though. I'd say that's a pretty manly car. 😉

The Viper is an amazing car. I love it. But stiff ride. :Q

But I know something that got stiffer whilst driving it. 😱

But my version of the Neon only comes in manual but it's far from manly.
