Bought a new car! 2010 Subaru WRX Limited

After debating/pondering, decided to go in for a new car - 2010 WRX Limited. I just added the ipod interface and auto dimming mirror. I ordered it from the factory, so I'll get it in 6-8 weeks. I did get this color, the Spark Silver metallic.

I wanted one but, went for an Outback for practical reasons... more ground clearance, larger interior, better mileage.

Hatch isn't my thing, but if I had to get one, it'd be a WRX or STi. I got to ride as a passenger in one of these once, and I was pretty impressed in how torquey and quick it felt.

Car looks sick inside too. If it were the sedan, I'd be drooling right now. 😉

Yea I'm not really into the move to hatches for the new WRX's either but it's certainly a vastly better car than earlier WRX's. Good luck and be careful. I hoe you checked your insurance rates before you bought. One of the main reasons I didn't buy a WRX.

I was very tempted to get a WRX, but it was a little too much and the insurance was a little too high. Also, I wouldn't have bought a WRX unless I could afford an STi. Grats though.

Why is that? The new WRX is faster than the outgoing model year STI.

At least the 0-60 is faster on the WRX, and the $8k or $9k price premium isnt really worth it in my opinion. Plus, my back would NOT be thanking me on the streets of Boston with an STi.

Hah, the AccessPort sounds nice, but not sure I want to do it as I'm leasing it.

When did "leasing" mean "buying"? Do you mean to say that all the time I'm paying rent, I actually get to keep the apartment at the end? Oh really? 🙄

Just barely because of the 1 less shift needed. The STI is by far the better car and worth it if you are planning anything more than just a daily driver/snow machine.

Congrats!! That's a great ride.

I can point you to someone who can do a custom tune if you like. The Cobb AccessPorts are easy, but they leave power on the table and are $$$$. With a custom OpenSource tune, you buy a cable and upload a base logging run to the tuner. He customizes back & forth with you up to 7 times I believe, which should have you squared away. Best combined with a full exhaust (up-pipe + down-pipe + catback)

Enjoy and let us know how you like it!

That's debatable. Unless you take it to the track or push your car far beyond the legal limits of the road, the STi's potential is mostly wasted. Yes, it is the better sports car. Yes, it has improvements that would be cost prohibitive & impractical to recreate on a WRX.

But for some the harsh suspension and even shorter gears of the 6-speed are just more than they want to deal with on the street. Not to mention that you don't use most of that extra potential that the next ~8K buys over the WRX.

Congrats on the new car 🙂

I have been considering getting rid of my M3 and getting a new STI. Partly because I want to lower my monthly payment, and partly because I want a fun sporty hatchback snow machine that can actually carry some stuff.
