I recently bought a house and at first the bank and attorney were practically kissing my butt and assuring me everything would be taken care of quickly. Now almost 2 months later and 3 weeks before Im kicked out of my apartment, it's like pulling teeth to get ahold of anyone.
It takes atleast 3 phone calls to get anyone to respond.
I bet if I offered to double what they were charging me things would get done tomorrow.
It's too bad im practically broke after giving the bank just about every penny i had.

I hear ya. I just bought a house that needed renovation work and the closing took forever because of the mortgage company, lawyers and sellers. I was supposed to close 3 months before it actually did so I set up contractors, cabinetry, ending the lease on our apartment, etc. beforehand. Because it took so long, I had to leave the apt I rented and move in with my mom-in-law for a month and then move into my house while major construction is still being done. Right now, I don't have use of 2 bathrooms, kitchen, family room, living room and dining room. Its a complete disaster.

We're supposed to close June 27th. Woe to the bank if they don't let it happen because come July 17 I'm in a different immigration limbo for two years so if the house doesn't close before then it won't be closing and no house for me and no money for them!

buying a house is like that, they will try to close escrow on the day they say but sometimes you hit a snag....

I bought a repo and it took 6 months to get them, the previous owners, out of there....bastards

but it was cool i could afford to wait and didnt have to move right away..

i waited that long cuz i bought the house way under market..a few DIY cosmetic repairs later some landscaping and TLC and it has now close to 100k in equity...just had it reappraised and this is only a year later..:)

Even if the market goes soft i know itll still have at least 50k in built in equity :p
