Bought a Ford Fiesta / what wheels should I get?

Hey guys!

My dealer is willing to buy my factory wheels back from me for nearly what I'm paying for the wheels. Not quite as much as if I sold them outright but still. I've also talked to a few people on different fiesta forums that are interested in them. The oem wheels list for over $435 each from fordparts.com and on forums people are routinely asking for $550-$700 for just the wheels (without tires and tmps). The tires aren't going to have many miles on them (my car still has just over 400 miles on it).

So there's not much loss. My factory wheels have shitting tires on them too, so I'm going to be getting a nice set of all season tires on my new wheels.

I'm not doing much to the car. Wheels (but I will recoup most of the cost). I'm getting the Ford Racing Suspension Kit for $270 which lowers the car about an inch and stiffens the suspension a bit. My roommate is going to install it so I don't have to pay much more than the cost of the kit. Lastly, I'm getting the windows blacked out.

After that, I'm only going to replace the factory speakers. That's it. I'm buying everything up front and not touching it after that.

This.

I don't understand the desire to put a sport suspension on a Fiesta.

Use the extra money to get a Focus or slightly used, faster car.

have you seen the top gear vid on the Fiesta? Ever wonder why Ken block is using a fiesta?

The damn car takes corners nearly as well as my z4 did. I just want to get rid of some of the roll/sway and get some wider tires.

If/when Ford releases an ST version, or adds a turbo (which actually might happen), and gets this car near 200hp it's going to be a sick fun ride.

You just lost all credibility right there. Ken Block's Fiesta was an 850 hp AWD beast that had been so modified that there was very little left of the original car besides the body shell.

Why would you buy an economy car and then destroy the economy part with a turbocharger and big wheels?

Looks like you did ok on the rim and tires department.

Ok, I was going to get the RUFF wheels I linked to earlier in the thread, but I found these for sale on the fiestafaction forum.

What do you guys think?

My car is just like the black one the guy photoshopped the wheels onto.

Please don't, it looks so stupid.

I can't decide on new wheels, and I'd rather spend the money elsewhere, so I'm considering just keeping the ones I have.

I'm still going to tint the windows, so I'm thinking about painting the wheels.

I was thinking black with maybe the lip painted red, or just solid matte black. I think I'd rather have the lighter, smaller wheels and just paint them black. Thoughts?

Black wheels are lame. Many people do them, very few can pull it off. Matte black wheels will just make your wheel wells look like pits in the side of your car. I would go for something more interesting, like volk mag blue, or a metallic green:

Besides... if you got black wheels on a black car with black tint you'd be half-way to murdered out, and you don't want that...

Do I need to ask for special paint? Or could I go up to my local custom paint shop and see what color paints they had on hand and try and make a deal? Does normal auto body paint work?

err, no, get rims already baked with the colour you want.

or send them out to get powdercoated

I recently looked into that, runs about $430/set for a single plane color FWIW. Definitely get wheels powder coated if you want a durable finish. Some places can even do metallic powder coat finishes now. Though, as mentioned, buying a set in the color you want will be the best way to go. You could then put winter tires on your stock wheels.

Edit: you could shaker-can your stockers if you didn't care about redoing it every year or two and dealing with some chips occasionally. I do this with my winter wheels.

yeah that sounds about right

I have steelies for ym wifes winter tires, I put undercoating on them this year, it did alright, its not very scratch resistant though, might try rhinoliner esk stuff next year
