Bought a $130 Samsung vcr/dvd combo off ebay for $32.50

My ohms meter has a switch that when you touch the leds together it beeps. I scratched the trace at the crack on one side and got an idea where it went and waited for the beeb. Went on the other side of the crack and did the same. Marked it and soldered. Took me forever to do it because the traces by the crack were super small but I found them all and it works like new 🙂

And I did all the solder with a solder gun with a wide tip so I am still puzzled how I pulled that off without a small tip 😛

Good on you for taking the time to do that.
Most manufacturers would just yank the board, trash it and install another one.

Most? The only time board-level repairs actually take place in electronics manufacturing is with specialty equipment made by specialty manufacturers on a small scale.
