bought 1lb of grass-fed ground beef

So, I gave up beef a long time ago. Nothing to do with the harm of cows. But based on the fact that US beef is all cornfed and is garbage. If you want to argue that point read any of Michael Pollen's books. You can say it still tastes good, but so does processed twinkies and they are still garbage.

Anyways. what would be a good way to cook this beef? I was thinking of doing burgers or meatloaf. Any suggestions or recipes that pertain specifically to grass-fed beef? (and yes this is 100% grass-fed, not finished on corn.)

Turn that beef into compost, then feed that to the grass, then feed THAT grass to cows.

Then you've got some real beef. The stuff you've got doesn't even come close.

What could he make with a bulk size of beef.

I suggest spaghetti with meatballs and garlic bread

Michael Pollan said that corn fed cow meat is garbage compared to grass fed cow meat? I don't remember that. Which book was it?

Grain-fed (particularly corn fed) imparts a big flavor difference, and also tends to make the cow fattier. Grass-fed is a more hearty "beefy" flavor, and a bit leaner.

Either way, it's good stuff. I suggest burgers.

1lb is NOT bulk! pshhaaawww....

I think you should just dump that whole pound of beef into the deep fryer and eat that. Regardless of what the bovine was fed with while it was alive, ground beef is ground beef is ground beef.

I actually prefer corn fed beef. Fatty, heavily marbled beef is bad for you, but it's more tender and tastes way better IMO. I vote for meatloaf, since that grass fed beef is likely to be leaner (tougher) and "gamy" tasting without other ingredients mixed in.

I say get some bacon and make 3 bacon cheeseburgers over a charcoal grill. This is the best way to re-introduce yourself to tastey cow flesh.

I'm astonished that you'd pick ground beef as a way to reintroduce yourself to beef. I'm sure there's a flavor and chemistry difference between ground beef from a regular cattle company and whatever company sold you this grass-fed ground beef... but that's like... oh, shoot - what's a good analogy?

That's like coming back to relearn how to drive cars, picking a Ferrari (grass fed beef) over a Ford (standard beef), then instead of going for a nice long drive (prime cuts), you take it for a 3 minute drive around the parking lot (ground beef)... that's no way to sample the goodness. You'd probably enjoy it a lot more if you had some nice cuts to prepare and savor. 🙂

Edit: And, c'mon, man... MEATLOAF? I know it's been a while since you've had beef, but it couldn't have been THAT long that you'd throw your special beef into a pan in the oven! That's a terrible idea! 😛

Did you give up just beef or meat altogether? Might have some trouble digesting it with so long since you last had some.

That's like coming back to PC gaming, picking a Core i7 w/GTX295 SLI (grass fed beef) over a Core2Duo w/9800GTX (standard beef), then instead of playing Crysis at infinity FPS (prime cuts), you play Minesweeper for 3 minutes (ground beef)... that's no way to sample the goodness. You'd probably enjoy it a lot more if you had some new games to pwn and roxxor. 🙂

salt, pepper, an egg, a little bit of garlic and onions, mashed up, charred. top with bacon, lettuce, thousand island, beefsteak tomatoes, and cheese. Enjoy!

I'd have to imagine this would completely mask any flavor differences between standard beef and grass-fed.
