Bottleneck?

Streaming from my NAS to my WDTV it will lag and buffer every 10min or so, but if I connect the WDTV directly to the NAS it will stream an entire movie just fine. Wired with Cat5e throughout.

The slowest component is the WDTV with only 100mbps NIC. What gives?

My setup is:
Belkin N600
  • Ready NAS 104
  • WDTV SMP

Would connecting both to a switch, then to the router speed it up?

If connecting the two devices directly works fine, then I'd suspect one of the following:

Bad cable between the router and one of the devices.
Something wrong with the router (physical or configuration).

It could be other things as well, but those are the most likely, and yes, using a switch would either bypass the problem if it's in the router, or confirm that it's a wiring problem if it keeps happening.
