Seriously... I don't want to buy a console, just want to play through the game once and you can have the game for free and the console back in a month or so. 🙂
 
Dont video stores rent consoles? You may just be better off getting used one on Ebay, buying the game, and selling um in a combo pack after, should be able to sell it for about the same price you bought it if you include the game. Would suggest you rent Demons Soul (imho the best console game out in this current gen) and Valkyri Chronicels when you have it too (and maybe Uncharted).
 
Maybe, but that's a pain in the rear... and no stores around rent consoles anymore that I know of.
 
I live in NJ, but I'd let you if you paid a deposit and covered the cost of getting it from NJ to Boston and back. Actually manlymatt83 lives in Boston but is from my area; he could probably transport it if he's coming down this way anytime soon. Shipping it would probably be expensive.

I do actually, but it has a pretty old version of a hacked firmware on it, and I haven't been able to get it upgraded to a newer version of the hacked firmware. I DON'T want to upgrade it to the latest official firmware (eventually I'm going to play FFVII... eventually), and I think recent games probably require the newer firmware versions.

Long story short - if you can guarantee I'll get it back with the same firmware I have on it, or if I get it back with a current version of hacked firmware, then you're welcome to borrow it.
 
Wow, that's some crazy proposal I've never seen around the net thus far.

I don't live around the Boston area, but just asking out of curiosity - what are you going to do to make the person willing to let you borrow their PS3, feel at ease for a month?

There's got to be something in the meantime you'd have to give up for that, otherwise that's a few hundred dollars worth of trust.

Oh yeah, same thing goes for me. I promise I'll give it back too... even though I'm just a stranger on the internet and people get scammed all the time. Don't worry though I'm totally legit.

What reputation? It's an anonymous forum with thousands of strangers all over the globe. You could totally fuck somebody over and all we can do is 'gee, that MJinZ wasn't so good of a guy' and then you just move on to your other nickname.

I'm just saying that when nobody has any link to their real lives that things happen. All you need is a proxy and the mods can't even look your ip up. I'm not saying YOU'RE a terrible person, I'm just saying that it's an odd request for such a place from a member who doesn't have a ton of history here.
 
Yeah, all that's been said is too true.

No offense but if I was in the shoes of someone who was pitted in this decision, the only people I'd trust here are those with the longer registration dates. It puts a sense of security due to many of the scammer type registrations would be gone by now. But even then, that's not to say it's enough to trust someone. With all the stuff that goes on the internet these days, I'd want something of equal value for the time someone was borrowing a few hundred's worth of my stuff.

I don't think you've seen how serious they take the FSFT forum here.... While I am expecting a "This isn't FSFT duh!", the same would apply to scammers 😉.

And yet people sell hundreds of dollars worth of stuff on these forums all the time... this is really no different.
 
If I wansn't moving to Portsmouth tomorrow, I'd let you borrow my PS3. I use it almost exclusively for blu-ray viewing, and I can always watch those on my computer.

If I was in Boston, I would total consider doing this. I have no idea what guarantee would make me feel that this isn't a scam, save cash on hand for the full price of the system though.
