Boston Bombing -- Who Did It?

Who committed the Boston Marathon Bombing?

  • U.S. Government -- black flag operation

  • Anti-Tax Militia. It's Tax Day, after all.

  • Foreign-born Islamicists

  • Domestic-born Islamicists (sudden jihad syndrome?)

  • Christian Extremists

  • The Jews!

  • Mexican Drug Lords

  • The Mafia

  • Saddam Hussein's Operatives (the George Bush option)

  • Lone nut who doesn't fit any of the above categories

How is asserting that right-wingers probably did it cowardice when --

1. there is an instigating event, gun registration, being debated in the Senate

2. there is a history of right-wing violence in the USA: Tim McVeigh and others

See, that's called logic. You seem to be lacking in it. Asserting that one group or another did it has nothing to do with cowardice or bravery.

If I had to guess, my first guess would be a foreign-born Islamic fundamentalist doing this as an act of terror. Not necessarily someone connected to a major terror organization - could be somebody like that guy who tried to bomb Times Square a couple of years ago.

My second guess would be a domestic militia type. The only real reason my mind goes to that is that the bombing happened on tax day.

My third guess would be some lone wacko with no larger political agenda.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but itsn't it too early to tell? There have been lots of attempts at gun legislation all over the country..

hitting boston, while it has historical significance especially on tax day, might not be the most direct way of sending violent message of protest about guns. .

Islamic terrorism has some method behind its madness. They attacked the WTC twice because it is associated with international finance capitalism. Times Square is another symbol of capitalism.

Boston marathon I don't see any Islamic method for the madness. The only thing I can think of might be an Iraqi out for revenge.

Judging by the hornets nest that gun control inspires in people, and how the Newtown families were there (bomb went off in a VIP area), and the gun legislation going through Congress, and that the demographic that participates in the Boston marathon is the lefty liberal that the militia types hate -- I think they're the best bet.

I dunno, probably some "new patriot" and "second american revolution" going on. Look at the james Yaegar vid. Boston is the birthplace of the American revolution.

The gun legislation going through arguably is far more significant than the 1994 AWB. Through some paranoid Alex Jones lens, the bomber might think it's the first step to taking away all the guns and ushering black helicopter tyranny, etc.

I think he used a bomb to prove the saying, "they could just as easily have been killed by a bomb as with a gun".

You don't even want to acknowledge that it could have been a radical Islamist. Shame on you for using this terrorist attack to attack your enemies.
 
First guess (and only guess): domestic terrorism.

Although, NBC has already reported that a Saudi National (some kid here on a student VISA) was detained/ethnically profiled (my opinion). People said they saw him running away from the blast, "acting suspiciously". He was on fire and had to be hospitalized like everyone else....yet, they ransacked his apartment and questioned him for hours. Of course, running away from a bomb blast while Muslim means you're suspicious.

We're back to post 9/11 days...


I wonder when they will examine the unexplored device they found. I am sure somebody made these explosives in their home.

I cannot wait to hear how the government did this just like the Aurora Theater shooting and Sandy Hook Elementary.
 
Any details about the bombs? The large fireball and low number of fatalities suggests a fairly crude pipe bomb type device.

If that's the case it could be anyone but it would suggest some one with very loose or non existent links to any major terrorist network.

A marathon is certainly a wierd target as well, it suggests to me that the suspect would be local to the area. A foreign terrorist would likely hit the workings of big government and a national domestic terrorist might target a more political target.

I'm going to guess at a lone wolf, domestic terrorist. The type of guy who is really angry with "them" but doesn't have a fixed idea who "them" are.

Holy shit. I gave an idea of what sort of Islamist might have done it: an Iraqi, possibly one who had experience with IED's.

It's not true that Islamic terrorists only targets are politically motivated. Take the (failed) times square bomber. His intent was just to inflict massive causalities. Also note this incident in Pakistan a few days ago:

The bomb was on a civilian bus that was passing through a crowded market. Nothing to do with targeting government forces - the ideas is to spread panic and fear by attacking soft targets.

I've never heard of Islamic terrorists targeting a city OTHER than NYC (okay, DC) in the USA. They've never attacked say, Philadelphia, Boston (before this), Miami, LA, Chicago, etc. NYC is the global finance capital of the world.

Islamic terrorists do blow up buses all the time in Israel. And they did attack the London subway. Still...this just doesn't feel like it's Islamic. Boston is just not that high profile a city to get the attention of Islamic terrorists. They tend to attack the gleaming beacons of the West, not sporting events like the Boston marathon.

On the other hand, we have a history of right-wingers attacking sporting events. Eric Rudolph attacked the Atlanta Olympics.

Also, Islamic attacks tend to claim responsibility soon after. Meanwhile, right-wing attacks they don't announce anything. THey sneak away. McVeigh and Rudolph behaved in this way.
