I need to you assign your time in 8 minute increments to account for what project you are working on. This must be absolutely accurate as we bill based on what you're working on. I have assigned you 88 minutes this week to work on the Harper project. Please do not deviate from this resource schedule. mmmm'kay?

Used to be a great boss, don't know wtf happened. Still a pretty good boss overall but a lousy lousy tech, then she tries to tell me how to do my fucking job... Usually results in "That machine needs more memory". Seriously? More memory? It has 3 gb on a 32bit OS, I explain the limitations to her - She says "MORE MEMORY!"

Just the tip of the iceberg with this bs. Taking my projects that are well laid out and planned then having other techs just go at it willy nilly - Why assign it to me in the first place?

Highlighted what your main problem is.

Maybe you should do something about it instead of whining on ATOT.

My boss is the total opposite.

I can't ever figure out where the hell he is or how to get in touch with him most of the time.

I can go for days and days without ever talking, IM'ing or seeing him.

My boss before him with the ultimate micro-manager though. Same company and department just different area.

I go for months without seeing my boss. It sucks and it's awesome at the same time.

this is usually true. we can tell when the owner here gets bored and doesnt have enough projects to play with, he starts walking around micro managing everyone elses stuff. not that big a deal tho, we can tell him no if we feel it necessary, and only have to answer to our direct boss. which in my case is the VP. but we better have a good reason.

I, at one time, was managing a department in a Fortume 500 company.
I never once reported anything my direct supervisor, the VP of the Operattions.
We attended the same divisional meetings and that's the only way he knew what I was doing.

And as others are saying, that was a two headed coin.
