I totally agree...I mean I KNEW my radio shack special were really $50,000 Watt speakers in a different packaging and when I got these BOSE from circuit city...wow

just

wow....

😕

The biggest Issue I have about Bose is that they fail to provide value. They do sound nice but not for the price. Cambridge Soundworks wins that one.

Oh wait... I hear her typing. She must be posting as I type.

EDIT: oh, she just told me she wasn't posting in this thread.

"I wouldn't know what to say" she says.

I guess I'll have to rely on my robot clone army to be on my side.

oh man, that bear attack picture you got is pretty nasty......:Q

Bose 901s still sound and look great 20 years after their introduction. What they lack in musical finess they make up in retro style..

Bose cubes suck - their cutover point between satellites and mid/sub woofer is simply way too high - low bass is non-directional, but midrange IS directional...and too much of their midrange is forced to come from the woofer module. This is a direct result of their satellites being so small, and not being able to pump any mids. The end result is that while overall frequency response can be tuned to be OK, it destroys imaging totally. Put me in a room blindfolded, and I never fail to point immediately to where the Bose mid/sub woofer is situated. And that just shouldn't be in a good system - you shouldn't be able to find the sub that easily.

My Altec Lansing MX5021 2.1 system that I use on my main rig has satellites with a 1" tweeter and 2 x 3" midrange drivers. With that much midrange in the sats, you CANNOT find the subwoofer with your eyes closed. Impossible. THAT'S a good design, and that's why they are THX rated and sound better than Bose's computer speakers by far, and even better than their $1000 cube systems.

But I do like those old 901s, I have a friend with 4 of them as part of a 5.1 setup and they rock hard...

I heard * is a terrible company that sells speakers out of white vans.

So I'm going to have to agree.

😛

The large wave radio is nice (not for the price), but most of their other products are over priced and over rated. 🙂

True enough. If it were priced like KLH or Craig or a no-name Wal-mart brand, then it would be ok.

They are good for the size, but you can do MUCH MUCH better for your money. MUCH.

Props to M&K. My S-150 system will light any BOSE system on fire.

Other brands that are better...

B&W
Energy
Paradigm
Definitive Technology
Polk
MB Quart
Advent
Altech Lansing
Cambridge Soundworks
Klipsch (And I really hate Klipsch)
Martin Logan
Snell
Speaker Craft
And I won't even get into the Wilson's or Dunleavy's and other high-end stuff.

Everything is price relevant. If BOSE were sold for about half of their retail they would not be a bad speaker. But as it is... Dollar for dollar anything beats BOSE.

my ass makes better noise than Bose speakers

I'm sure it does, I don't think there are any speakers in the world that can emulate noises generated by the arse hole nor the smell!

yeah, Mirage😎

My sig used to say overpriced for both Monstercable and Bose, but having four links in my sig has caused me to shorten things up a bit. I think I'm exactly at capacity of one or two characters away.

If Bose cost a third of what it does and their marketing department didn't make wild claims about being the best technology out there, I wouldn't have a problem with them at all.
