Bose doesnt even give specs on their products. Standard stuff like THD, watt handling. I think the best thing they make IS the clock radio. But even that is overpriced.

Id rather buy insignia products....

I like to think of their target market as The Shopping Channel preferred customers. Sadly my wife likes to buy Proactiv so I have to live with the stain of having TSC on my CC bill :(

Why keep buying Proactiv? Neutrogena, Clean and Clear, and anyone else making acne meds has a similar "kit" available at pharmacies and supermarkets, just buy one of those. It's all benzoyl peroxide, lotion, and salicylic acid anyways...

Don't go there... I tried... and failed miserably...

Logic need not apply when it comes to 'beauty'... No, I did not put that shit on my face.

So I compensate by buying hdds in equal monetary value.

I have to admit their clock radio does sound good for it's decent compactness and it is a clock too.... (don't worry, it was stolen)

Sure, it does sound pretty good. So do Logitech's mm....something iPod speakers, and they're only $150.

Bose doesn't exactly make garbage, they make overpriced mediocre equipment. For what you'd pay for a Bose HT system you could put together an AWESOME system with an Onkyo or Yamaha receiver, some Infinity towers (or Klipsch or Polk for you Harman haters), and maybe a nice SVS sub.

Personally, I think Sony's $200 HTIB that I got for $130 sounds just as good as Bose's HT systems. It's got tiny 4 inch speakers, a small 8 inch sub, and a mediocre receiver. Hell, Sony probably used better material for the drivers in the speakers than Bose does; someone tore some apart and apparently Bose uses cheap untreated paper (think stock audio in a Corolla or something).

I had a pair of BOSE once. I forget what model they were. This was about 8 years ago. I got them dirt cheap, like $50 for the pair, new as a closeout. I wanted a decent surround speaker. I figured with all the direct/reflecting hoopla they would be OK for the purpose.

Boy, was I wrong.

They had a single driver in this gigantic cabinet with no tweeter. The cabinet was about 5 times larger than the speaker. When I took the speaker cover off I LOL! What was I thinking? But they were sealed in the box, and I figured what the hay!

The 2 way KLHs I had hanging on the wall the BOSE was going to replace blew them away! So sad.

But I made 3xs what I spent on the BOSE selling them on fleabay. So all was again right with the world, and someone else got stuck with them! :p

I found this link trying to figure out what model those were: Oh BOySE! Did I get RIPPED!

Bose fun?

I remember connecting a 901 (the cab that has 8 FR speakers facing away from the listener and one forward) to a Crown Macro Tech Reference amp. We LPF'd it (low frequency only) and played samples of cannons from the 1812 and actually got the silly thing rocking on the pedestal! I was amazed at how much power those things can handle - certainly ANY home receiver is going to run out of steam long before those speakers would reach their mechanical limits. Of course without the EQ it sounds really bad. With it they're fine for reinforcement at a bar (these actually came from one and the owner was upgrading to a EV system) I could not imagine hooking them up to a 50wpc receiver and being satisfied - given the ridiculous amounts of boost the EQ provides in certain areas to flatten the frequency response. Also since they use full range drivers bass heavy stuff will tend to distort the midrange easily at just over medium listening levels unless your room is really small.

Save up your money for a Bose, then use that money to buy just about anything else.

LOL. I bought a par of the 901s a long time ago, and guess what they didn't come with? Yup, the Xovers. I got them (comparatively) cheap and figured no big deal. Well, it was a big deal!
