I use these forums a lot and i get great deals, was looking for some cheap speakers cause i didn't want to pay for bose ones, but i wanted cube speakers for my room.

i bought these

ja850

they are just as good as my friends bose speakers. so just a heads up for anyone looking. Deal ends 5/19

"Mini Cube Surround Sound / Home Theater Speakers (Priced per Pair)"

Price $88

JA Audio speakers any good?

I *like* how they show 4 speakers in the picture but they are "priced per pair".

Yeah, but this is a low priced version of "high priced crap".
I wouldn't buy Bose for any imaginable reason because of the low price/performance ratio - but if these are that much cheaper, and similar performance, then the ratio becomes a lot better.
That doesn't necessarily mean that this is a scorcher of a deal, if it is $88 per pair you may be better off with some logitech Z560s.

Actually, they are a pair of twisted-pair speakers... So the price is for what you see in the picture...

"Bose Quality" !?!? How about something musical instead?

Paul

p.s. I use a pair of bose 301s that I got a low price on for the rear surround channels in my 5.1 channel system. They will do untill I can get a pair of Acoustat 1+1s to compliment the front channel 2+2s.

IMHO - I visited Bose's outlet the other day and I was given a full 30 min show about Bose sound. In the end, they showed me the speakers. These are Bose's jewel cube speakers. I couldn't beleive their sizes. These are small...... I mean extremely small.....

The sound for a person without a big musical ear ...... I found it to be extraordinary. I don't know who else has such a great sound in such an invisible thing.

Expensive -- sure!!! But you know what they charge for... don't you ...... The name!!!

I spent all last night listening to my buddy's Energy C1's. If you want great sound from a small speaker these are it. Very musical, produce a surprising amount of bass for such a small driver, highs sound great (lighter and smoother than the old C series). Retail for $300 a pair but they sound great, the new C series from Energy is pretty awesome in general.

Been listening to a lot of Energy speakers lately, that's all I run. They kick the crap out of Bose anyday. There's a guy on ebay right now selling a HT setup. You get 3 RVS speakers for LCR and 2 RVSS for rears, I think he was $900 last I checked. Only reason I bring him up is because he's in the Bay Area so anyone local can just pick them up. Besides for $900 it's the best deal you'll get for a speaker package, the RVS line is great for music. Not as bright as the AC-300 when it comes to HT but more than enough.

In other words avoid Bose, they make crap. Good entry level brands are Paradigm and Energy, they give you lots of quality sound for the money. Subs go Hsu, SVS is nice too but a little more. Receiver go Outlaw, there's nothing else out there than can beat this in terms of price/features/performance.

Did you bother to take a look in the control room? Someone over at hometheaterforum.com did. The audio you heard wasn't driven by their POS consumer-level receiver. It was driven by a $30000+ rack smothered with amps and other equipment. They also use an acoustically calibrated room and hand-picked sound clips. The next time you are there, ask what's in their little room and ask if you can play your own DVD. The answer should be amusing.

I sat through one of these demos. The salesperson was some high school kid and had a hard time getting people in the store to sit through it. Most did it for the freebie they were giving out (some random drawing). Anyway at the end of the demo, he tried to show off the bass by blasting some DVD movie (forget which) and you could hear something vibrating badly. He then revealed a small sub hidden inside a (rattling) wicker basket. Not a single person said a thing when he asked "isn't that amazing ?". I was ROTFL.

Come to think of it, these probably are "Bose quality"; which is another reason to avoid them !

Bose used to be good in the 70s. Have you seen their new Wave they are selling now. The one with the 7ft chamber inside that herbie hancock is whoring.

Easy payments of $89 per month it says. Not the price, they never list the price. I was curious about the price so I called, the payments for one FKNG year. For a hunk of plastic. Very funny. Over $1000 dollars for a big clock radio. They dont even have them at the BOSE store in the mall where i live.

These guys remind me of vacuum cleaner salesmen.

KlineD,

The only crap in this thread is your comments. If you have a legitimate observation about Bose, say it. Nobody wants or needs your negativity when this guy is trying to let everyone know about a good deal.

The word "Bose" and the word "Quality" should not be used in the same sentence.

The only speakers that they make that are passable are the 901's. Even then you need a monster of an amp to drive them.

aldamon I read that thread too. Bose are terrible! They only sound good to people that have not heard anything else. I too thought they sounded good a first. That was just because my speakers were so old and worn out. I have Polk rt-25i speakers now with a center channel Polk and two SVS cs+ subs. The sound is really good for what I paid. The Polk rt-25i speakers are not the best but they sound really good for the price. They are $99 each at Circuit City. I would like to have some energy, klipsch or divas sometime later. I know they would be better but I do not have the $$$ right now. I had to buy the works including the onkyo reciever. These Polks blow away my friends Bose speakers.

you can't compare bmw to honda or toyota. I agree that you are getting diminishing returns on your money. its meant for people who have enough money such that the diminishing returns on their money makes it equal out.

service is incredible although I was somewhat pissed that it took 2 days for laser cut key to be mailed from germany. every locksmith i called say no way in hell.

bose on the otherhand...its a completely different comparison.

Bose spends alot of money on advertising and "bose" shows at big electronic stores.
You're paying for the marketing whenever you buy their speakers. :disgust:

Forgot to mention. Ever notice how you can never listen to Bose speakers in the same room as any other speakers? I wonder why they're always seperate from Polk/Energy/etc.
