Bose, Monster, Johnny Walker...

On the topic of Johnny Walker...my grandfather recently passed away and when cleaning out his home we found a couple gift boxes of JW Black Label. I'm guessing these things are at least 10 years old, if not 15 to 20.

These are the "christmas" packs with snifters/lowball glasses in them, all are unopened.

Is this stuff still drinkable?

Sunfire I think is a bit overrated, but thats personal pref, I really like tube amp stuff and they are far from that.

Nobody has addressed your post so I will. Those are all quality brands and you really can't go wrong with them. I admit I'm a krell whore, I just love the way they sound and perform.

There's the difference - the brands you listed perform very well and nothing from them wouldn't do the job at hand. Sure there is a small price premium but you generally get what you pay for with those brands, with a small premium added.

Monster? Great quality cables, just way overpriced by a factor of 4-5. Same with bose.

I'm with you on Krell. Fantastic stuff. Expensive. Wish I could afford it.

crap:Wilson Audio. Very expensive, and to my ears bright and irritating.

I disagree about Monster. Decent quality at an outrageous price.
Bose is in a class by itself. Total garbage products (paper speaker cones with a plastic speaker box) at a premium price.

Apple and BMW are way too expensive, but at least they are good quality products.

People keep saying Bose has "average" sound quality, but I've listened to my music through a friend's set of Bose speakers and I honestly couldn't even hear some of the instruments. Thats not average, thats beyond terrible.

In the world of speakers, the "Average" is derived mostly from TV speakers and inexpensive computer speakers (without subwoofers usually).

Average by quantity. Bose drivers are in the same class as the 100 dollar a tonne ones. Metric tonne.

I think the Bose V10/V20/V30 have HDMI
Lifestyle35,38,48 come with the VS-2 "video enhancer" add-on to give HDMI functionality

I know the external VS-2 doesn't allow audio over HDMI, and I'd guess the V10/V20/V30 are also only video.

LOL i agree Bose is crap... Overpriced underperforming low quality materials on all components /// engineered to aspire* but fails miserably. And marketed by the best in the industry, they are percieved as best (lmao) !!! Common ppl!!! U gonna buy this bs???

But other than Bose, I'd say apple - computer line is absolutely overpriced-IMO . But is different enough and has some inovations that some think it is worth it. I think it is fine if a person does the research and decides that apple is the way to go- as for any purchase decision- use your brains ppl!!! We are in recession!!!
But something to consider - Bose advertises with some integrity- at least they stay borderline- correct with their claims- smart choice of words... But apple??? Apple- utilizes dirty dirty- advertising tactics - similar to your child- making fun of a peer/ and a two faced politician running for senate-and no ones' got a clue!

I'd give credit to these marketing teams: Bose and apple. They do a great job... Think about apple's market share growth in the pc world... And how??? Mostly by advertising with dirty tactics. -*don't get me wrong- like I sed, they do have good innovative designs - but so do asus,dell,hp,etc... I just do not agree with their marketing style- and taking advantage of microsoft's badly managed vista os intro and implementation... They took advantage of the "so called" weaknesses of the new os- and made stupid, childish, silly comercials- comparing mac vs pc--- I'm sure you've seen it... Making impact on the computer illiterate- which most of the !n.American population is! ... I'll go as far as saying that apple made those commercials for the retarded- because the commercial treats it's audience as if they are retarded!!!
Common apple--- making fun of pc (a chubby dilbert)--- are you insinuating that all pc users are fat nerds? For petes sake!!! You gotta b kidding me!!! We are not children, not fat, and not nerds!!! And not stupid!!!
I'll never support a company using those dirty tactics to capitalize.
