Bose home theater setup (Help me buy a wedding present!)

Probably better brands out there for price : Quality/performance but this is a wedding present for someone and they seem to think Bose is the best. So... Given their product line, what do you guys think is the best 5.1 home theater type setup for under a grand (if possible)? Think I only need the sub/speakers (???).

Just an FYI, I don't really know anything about audio setups so keep it simple. 😉

Thanks.

Buy a $25 baseball bat and beat the person with it until they realize that Bose suck.

yeah... I've read the thread in the Hot Deals forum on how some of you hate Bose with passion, but it's a present and they insist on Bose. So... want to at least get the best for my $$$ if I have to go with Bose.

Educate them first. BOSE sucks more than a $2 whore making 75K a year. Take them to a store that carries Bose, let them listen to a Bose set, then haul them to a real audio store, and let them listen to some real speakers. If they cant tell the difference, especially in regards to the bass, then they deserve Bose.

yup.

Why would you throw away $1000 on a wedding present? The majority of marriages break up within 2 years. Give them a 30 day supply of KY jelly, at least they will be able to use that and it won't cost you too much money.

Buy them a Klipsch Quintet system with the 12" Sub It can be had for about $900.00 and they will have a better system. I love mine that is hooked to a Yamaha RX-V620. it ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember that a Bridal regestry is for suggestions. If they don't like the gift than .........................................😱

If you really want to have fun with them... spike one of those tubes with Novacaine...

Don't buy Bose. Period.

Ok, I have a HT setup with PSB Speakers. They are some of the best speakers I've heard, and they are not all that expensive.
Check out this place for info on them. I love the way that sound, and take the guards off the front, and they look sooo sexy! (I have the Image series)

Yeah, there are much better brands out there than Bose, but if it were me, I would just get them the Bose system. Since you said they think that Bose is the best, even if you get them a better system (say Energy, Paradigm, Mirage, PSB, etc.) chances are they wouldn't know the brand and would think you were just being cheap. Besides, as long as you make them happy, that's all that matters. There's nothing wrong with letting them think you bought them top-notch audio.

That said, I think Bose sells 5.1 packages. Look into those.

<< PM D1abolic about Bose- he will be glad to help you with this 😉😉😉 >>

I was going to include him with Viperoni, but I forgot where he put the '1' in his name...

Wow, I'm glad to see that I am not the only one that thinks Bose is terrible. A lot of my friends thinks Bose is great. I consantly tell them that they can get better system for cheaper, if they went with another brand. Your comments just confirm things for me, Thanks

Okay they want Bose - Let's pretend for a moment (don't worry it's a likely scenario) that what they are looking for decent sound and little speakers that are easy to hide. If that is the case, then get them some Gallo Micros. Better sound, better value and better looks. If it has to be Bose, then get them some place settings.

Good recommendation. Their MPS sub uses a Peerless XLS sub.....State of the art driver right there folks. I wouldn't doubt that it could take on a LOT of the other bigger velodynes, Klipsch, Def Tech's and beat them too. My friend has a pair of car version XLS's in his sunfire (check my sig), very sweet subs.

And as for Bose, if they're as bent on Bose as you say they are, then just get them Bose. It's obvious that they're after the name, and they won't be happy with anything BUT Bose.

Wanna take a look at a driver from their little cube things?
Look here

I that their driver for the "bass module"?

Nope they're the little drivers in the Bose cubes.
1/2inch voice coil, I doubt it could handle more than 10watts RMS.
I would probably blow them within minutes if I was running them like I was breaking in some other speakers for the last few days :Q 😀

well, i agree that bose is suck.....

but if your friends want it.....u can try and educate them............but if they don't want to listen to you....u can either buy them the bose, go w/a better setup, or get them a different gift all together.

good luck w/this..................................
