I made the mistake of buying a pair like these a while back. They sounded mediocre at best and they ended up breaking a few months later (the plastic piece on the size adjuster). I ended up buying a pair of sennheisers for almost half the price and the sound was much much better.

Ohh ya, about the sennheisers, I am still using them, and I have beat the hell out of them and they still arent broken.*knocks on wood*

i used these exact headphones for a year or so, sound was mediocre, but would have been better, construction was a bit flimsy, but what i did like was more important (than construction being flimsy). i liked that they didn't break, even though they felt flimsy, and i loved that it was light on my head. i definitely feel my HD555's on my head and and wont walk aorund wit it since it'd shake on my head. the bose were comfortable and light on my head and i forgot it was there after a few mins.

sound, of course theres nothing that can replace the sound quality, but it was decent. dont bash me for using bose because you think you can design something better

I own a pair of these and they just broke on me. The circular Bose part that holds the cup to the headband is plastic broke on me and that's where tiny screws secure it. I had them in my bag where I'm pretty sure I did not abuse them.

So while I was happy with the fit and sound, they definitely were very poorly built. But as LOUISSSSS said, they were super comfortable due to their light weight. No problems with the cups fitting around my ear and I'm not a small guy (5'11", 200lbs)

Luckily, Bose is replacing them for me for free and all I had to pay for was shipping to send them back.

I've used a few comparable Senns and Grados and didn't think they were that great either. The Senns I used were too boomy and the Grados I used sounded too tinny. Then again, I'm just powering them with an iPod.

yea comparing these to the hd555's, the sound isn't very much different. i'm no pro, but to my semi-trained ears the triports sounded more lively and vibrant. maybe a little less bass, but i dont need boomy bass on my headphones, if i wanted thta i'd blast my speakers.

they were definitely more comfortable than my heavyass hd555's

OP it looks like you're just on the "bash bose" wagon. you've never tried them, theres nothing wrong with headphones being light, that is great if you're on the road.
$139 isn't much for decent sound quality and very good comfort.

dont jut bash bose for being bose, give a good reason if you have one and you didn't provide anything OP

Bose's rep is just as bad on head-fi, and while they have their share of bashers, they also have objective reviews by audiophiles who've listened to dozens or hundreds of phones. At the very best, opinions there are that Bose are priced at about double what their sound quality warrants. And of course, I don't have to tell you what the worst reviews say. That's not to mention their awful build quality.

They actually sound pretty decent...about as comparable (slightly better) than my JCV HA-RX700 (which are great headphones, for only $35). Overpriced, definitely...but probably the "best" buy Bose has...sadly.

I actually use these for my gaming headphones (I dont like using headsets, prefer headphones and a desktop mic).

For what I use them for, I actually LOVE them. Closed ear, incredibly light and comfortable for hours upon hours of use, and pretty decent sound.

Yep, you can get better sound quality for the money, but you do pay for it in comfort/weight. Thats why I have my Etymotic ER-4P's for being mobile and listening to music.

Next purchase: Sennheiser 595/600/650's and a headphone amp for music listening.

Grados are light and fit about as loose as possible without falling off your head. New SR-60s are $60-$70.

Most Grados(RS1 and below) are possibly some of the worse performers in terms of gaming given their lack of soundstage width and depth.

I like my DT-770. I use it for late night pc gaming.

I do not want my wife to take a hammer to my 2 500w 15" subs
