Borrowing RAM

Hi,
When VRAM isn't sufficient, Can Graphic Card borrowing RAM from the main RAM of the system?
Thanks

I believe that Windows 10 does it too, automagically. Open DXDIAG.EXE, it should show the different memory pool limits for the GPU / DirectDraw device.

Hi i have a reverse question? If ram isn't enough ,will having a gpu with more memory be beneficial? I have only 6gb ram in my pc but 4gb vram 1050ti and because of just 6gb i see some stuttering in some games.

The stuttering will be more likely due to the GPUs insufficient power rather than the ram or vram. The ram may help load game assets at the start of the game and the vram the more dynamic assets that are instantly required for the game to run more smoothly. Other more powerful 4gb cards may not encounter the same stuttering the 1050ti does. Extra ram may help, but doubt it will resolve the stuttering in and of itself.

I doubt it. i see ram hitting close to 6gb usage in ME Andromeda and Mafia 3 (while vram is close to 2gb at 1600*900))and alt tabbing is slow. And that is without running anything other than the game.

A few games may indeed have very high ram usage, I believe ME A, to be one. Get extra ram then. Although dont have ME A, personally never encountered a game that caused stutter due to low ram. This since the days of 64mb ram up to 8gb ram as of last year. Bound to be a few poorly optimized games that demand excessive resources, ME A could be one of them.
