My girlfriends mom knew i was interested in possibly selling my Dell Insipiron 8100 and switching to the darkside..... i.e. a small ibook/powerbook...

She graciously let me borrow her 12.1" ibook for the night so i can see if i like it... I didnt even ask, she just randomly offered it this evening after i came over to hang out with Danielle....

So far i freakin love it! :)

Pros:
- LIGHT AS HELL
- Very sleek design.
- 12.1" is actually more real estate than i was expecting, still plenty of room on there to do serious work.
- Battery Life! I've had it on for over 3.5 hours and it still shows 22% remaining.... My dell would have died an hour ago.

Cons:
- Im used to my 1600x1200 UXGA
- Getting used to OS X.

So far so good :)

if you want to play with one go to an Apple store. they are ALL functional (nothing locked), all connected to broadband, hooked up toe ither a camera or camcorder or music instrument or ipod... and you can play with them to your delight.

god forbid they do anything like that at a best buy or comp usa...

if i didn't require a PC notebook for law skizzy i'd have gotten an ibook. or maybe an albook. 12"

instead i've got this brick of a dell. sure, the screen is nice, but 5 lbs empty is still a bit much.

haha yeah, i think its ideal to have an XP rig at home, and a mac lappy to toy around with. my sister got a compaq thats thicker than a triple cheeseburger. im amazed how they can get the 17" powerbook so darn thin

yea, i switched to macs a few months back (got myself an ibook) and it's been sweet since. never had any problems and OS X is one of the easiest to use/learn OSes that i've ever used. still has some minor kinks, but from my experience way less than Win2k or WinXP. I'm sure you'll get the hang of using a mac in no time.

It's amazing the number of people who find out that they actually LIKE Macs and OS X once they try it.

I know I was one of them.

Get 12" Powerbook and we can rule the universe together as nef and lifer, muhuhuhuhuh/

Me too. I gave it a shot when 10.1 came out and have loved it since. Oh, and having a 1" thick fullsize laptop before any pc maker had one was a definite selling point to me. (I ride my bike to school a lot and need the compact design.) I cant wait for 10.3 to come out.

Add to the Cons:

- how hot it gets. Use it for a few hours and see how much it burns up your lap, compared to PC laptops.

Otherwise, what a sweet machine. Powerbooks are even nicer.

How do you like OS X?
