borrowed an iphone (1st gen 8gb)

I put my SIM card from my Blackjack in it - i get "slide for emergency call".

If I slide the button, I get the touchpad and nothing else.

when i put the original sim chip back in, i get something about putting it in airplane mode.

what am i doing wrong?

nevermind.. turns out form a post right below that I had to connect to a PC & activate before I could use it.
