I'm ashamed of our country and the Democrats. The Democrats keep referring to the "will of the people", if they are so sure of this, the absentee ballots will confirm their statement and they'll win the election. Why have recounts? Won't the absentee ballots show the will of our remaining unaccounted people? If Gore was so sure of this "will", why didn't he win his home state of Tennessee? Just another thought, if you mark two answers to a question on a multiple choice test, your answer is wrong. It boils down to following instructions. Why did 95% of the Palm County residents get it right? They followed instructions. President Elect Bush has a nice ring to it, would'nt you agree?

Not until the ballots are accurately counted.......Florida is too close to call.....there are some legally requested manual recounts that need to be done....

He just admitted this on cnn, he also said that "counting ballots by hand is unconstitutional" LMAO how the hell did they count votes before the machines.

Also ALL of this is required by Florida LAW, to not do this would be UNLAWFULL. and the people have the right to this accurate process.

<< The REAL agenda is not just a manual recount of four counties as Bore would have you believe. He's going to try and hijack the election by forcing the hand counting of nearly 6 million ballots. >>

I find it interesting how the Bush-lite faction is constantly calling for Gore to give up and throw in the towel. Even before the official count from the state of Fl is given by the election board. They even called for Gore to give up before dawn after the news agency AP said that Bush was ahead by some 300 vote, with no mail votes yet counted. They have the count they way they want it now, even if all the votes are not counted yet. Why are they so afraid of a more accurate hand count? Even considering that GW Bush himself signed a law in Texas that the handcounting method was more accurate.

Let all votes be counted accurately. Let all mail votes be counted also. Let be fair about all this and not call the election over until everything is accounted for.

4824guy,

I'm not so certain a hand recount will be more accurate in this case. Just look at the local governments in action in Florida. Not exactly impressive is it? Perhaps they should bring in people from another state with fewer irregularies and let them perform the recount. Hell, let Russia do it for all I care.

THis is just another humble opinion from another humble American. It took 12 years for Ronald Reagan and George Bush to bring back worldwide honor and respect back to the United States of America. The end of the Cold War, the bringing down of the Eastern European Wall, The reunification of Germany, The respect of our US Military Forces in a great Victory in SW Asia, and many many more great achievements. When the Democrats took over they rode in on the coats of a surging Economy, and artificially grew it by cutting military budgets, taking away many government jobs (well paying) from civilians supporting our military, and inviting all foreign markets into America especially via NAFTA, to drive prices of goods down, to make middle class Americans feel more wealthy, cutting interest rates to nothing and allowing a total saturation of consumer credit, on and on I could go. Now just 8 years later, our Military has been weakened and demoralized, strung all over the place in a total disorganized mess. The scandals of the Whitehouse, shame brought on our nation by Clinton, the mass exodus of the Best of the Best leaders in the Military because of the shameful dismantling of what took generations to build....all this has brought our great nation down again to levels of international respect only seen last in the 1970s, and now this fiasco with the national election... I am proud to be an American, I am proud to be a veteran of foriegn wars, but I am thoroughly disgusted with what I see is the Democratic Party's dismantling of that great era of achievement and all the Republicans who helped them along... IMHO

I wonder why the Republicans are so afraid?

Hand counting was used for every election for most of our country's history.

Again, everything that they are doing is ACCORDING to Florida law. How can someone try to get an infuction on a procedure when that procedure is according to the law.

Well, I read up to the second page of this thread and then skipped to the end, getting BOREd with the flaming... :(

I think getting the most accurate vote possible is EXTREMELY important. The manual recount seems like it is being done in a fair manner - each person counting is being supervised by one Dem representative and one Republican representative. Several election officials have stated that a manual recount is MORE accurate than the ancient machines they are using.

Apart from being afraid that the vote count will turn, what POSSIBLE argument could Bush have against making sure that all votes are properly counted?

And to address the original issue you brought up Russ, regarding a statewide manual recount - I actually would think that the Republicans would SUPPORT a statewide recount, assuming it is going to be allowed in the counties where they are recounting now. Those are Democratic strongholds. Wouldn't they want those counties that voted more heavily for Bush to do a recount, so that they could get THEIR lost votes in those areas? If they only recount in areas that voted 60% for Gore, it seems obvious to me that the Democratics would gain votes and close the gap. But of course now it is probably too late for them, being as they made such a big stink about challenging the recount the Dem's proposed and received.

Whoever wins, it should be due to the votes. NOT because of a court decision or anything similar.

Those of you stating "BUSH WON GET OVER IT!!!" should wait until the FINAL 100% OFFICIAL UNDISPUTED results are in. You people are as bad as the network losers who declared Gore won Florida on Tuesday night. Nobody has won yet.
