To Go along with everyone else's posts,
1) Loved Star Wars Galaxies till it went to crap
2) Was addicted to Warcrack from the time I beta Tested it for about 3 years. Naturally Left pretty jaded
3) TF2 other Valve games provided modest relief for awhile, tried EVE and other MMO's could not really get into them as most of them appeared to be Poor WoW ripoffs
4) Played DDO for about 6 months...pretty good game actually..boredom then ensued
5) Current state: Aion sucked.. pre-ordered AVP sticking to a mix of Multiplayer FPS (Killing Floor, TF2) and League of Legends which I play very casually.

If you like Eve, you can join my corp and I will fly with you blowing up as many characters as we can find. I have to say it is the only MMO I have really played, as it was the only one that really interested me. Try reading through some of this thread, and see if it would be your cup of tea: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=244908&highlight=

I never thought I would play an MMO (I did try WoW once, but it was as boring as I could imagine) but after reading through that thread, I really wanted to try Eve. I have to say, that I was not disappointed. Although since the changes in the last patch, the server has been far less stable. Hopefully that gets fixed soon.

My problem with every MMO I have ever played is that I am always very into the game in the beginning, when things are moving along at a good pace, going through quests at a good clip and gaining levels. However, when I get to higher levels everything always feels like it slows to a snail's pace and I get bored.

I've made so many characters in LOTRO that I've gotten to level 20 something that I've lost count (same thing happened in WoW and any other I've tried). Not sure whether it's the games' failing or mine. :hmm:

Thats one of my big hiccups with mmo's, at least now (didn't use to be this way). I'm running around Aion with 8 characters (the max you can have), all level 24-25.

One of the reasons, is the game just seems to be more fun when you actually see progress, and the levels just zoom on by.

but, the other reason, I don't care for raiding, grinding high end dungeons over and over again, achievements, or even pvp. And, what else is there to do at max level?

No, just give me my low level toons where progress is steady and quests are aplenty, and I'm happy.

Perhaps that isn't a failing at all - do you feel like you wasted your money on LOTRO? The starting areas are diverse enough that if you've made a bunch of 20's it's probably been a significant effort and if you've enjoyed your time then I wouldn't call it a failing.

If you haven't gotten your money's worth out of it then I would put the blame on LOTRO. Mid 20's-Mid 30's has always been a weak spot with having to bounce back and forth between different zones and the dependence on fellowship instances like GA for a major chunk of the quests. It's not bad if you're doing all of the hard instances with friends, but as a casual solo player it really bogs down.

Well I have a lifetime sub, but I do feel as if I have gotten my money's worth.

I think the failing is a combination because I really like to solo in these games, but once you get to a certain area the game is not as easily soloable and seems to encourage grouping. It just ends up taking me forever to go up a single level once I get close to the 30s. I have one character that is close to 50, but I just can't bring myself to play the guy. :\
