The venerable Prince of Persia Sands of Time and Two Thrones are great games worth spending your time on, if you haven't already.

Freelancer is also a superb game and how I wish they'd release its sequel (or anything like it!).

For RTS games, Supreme Commander Forged Alliance and Red Alert 3 are highly recommended. I'd also suggest Sins of A Solar Empire but some people find it too slow (try it out first though).

Strategy games, I personally have good memories of HoMMV (MMVI is also good and even more gorgeous but is not as 'deep'). I have also had good experience playing Civ V (never tried the older Civs however).

Sniper V2 has a good single player campaign, it's definitely challenging. Use's the frost byte 2 engine, looks great plays well and the fatal shots are horrific. Especially funny when you hit a guy and he falls down limp yelling for help from his squad mates, who then come to his aid by throwing him over their shoulder in an attempt to take him to safety ... shoot his rescuer in the leg upon retreat and watch them both bleed to death as they scream for help.

Sniper elite v2 does NOT use frostbyte. What are you smoking?

Minesweeper and solitaire. Graphics are dated, but high addiction factor. Never the same game twice.

the problem with solitaire is that you've won or lost as soon as the deck is shuffled... it's just a matter of how long it takes you to find out.

Saints Row 3 is pretty awesome, unless you object to juvenile humour.

Sniper V2 looks pretty awesome, haven't played it, but watched a few Playthroughs.

Max Payne 3 is just coming out and looks to be great as well. It certainly should tax any system.

Naw, you gotta step up to spider solitaire/ medium.

/easy is, well... too easy. try to break 90 for a real challenge (I've never done it, but my gf has)
/hard is too random, but very satisfying to solve.

/medium is the best mix of good fortune and strategy. Consider anything under 130 a good game, under 120 and very good game, and under 110 a great game.

The holy grail for medium is breaking 100. I think my best is 106 or 107.

Mount and Blade: Warband. Is on sale often on steam or amazon for cheap and there's plenty of mods. I play cRPG.

"As far as im concerned, progress peaked at frozen pizza"

So lets go with the odler stuff that was reliably fun.

All of the first 4 Command and Conquer games. (anything pre-generals)
C&C 3 was pretty fun too.

Sid Meiers Railroads & Sim City 4 allows me to waste countless hours.
SFC: OP was pretty fun in its day.

Im currently just starting diablo 2 and baldur's gate 2.

As was mentioned the STALKER series with complete mod. Some oldies include Painkiller, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Far Cry, Crysis. Also Call of Juarez Bound in blood.

Just Cause 2.

Incredible fun if you like single-player adventure games and like to get creative.

If you haven't played the Witcher 2 yet, then I highly suggest playing that. Best RPG I have ever played more on a whole. Much better than the first, andthe enhanced edition made it even better.

Fail OP reading.

You are a complete douchebag. I missed the second part where he mentions that he didn't get into Witcher 2, since it wasn't listed in the beginning of the bullet like all the other games. I hope that some day you are able to grow up, and not be such a complete douchebag.

Fuck you douchebag!

He said he likes RPGs and Witcher 2 was not listed.

I suggest you read again then:
Got my i3-2120 rig with HD6870, plays BF3 beautifully at high settings.

I suddenly realized I'm bored with the games I have. I have played quite a few titles. Anything good I should try? Older and new are fine. I like RPG, Action, FPS, anything is good.

I've played:

-All HL series
-Portal 1 & 2
-BF3: meh
-Diablo 3: disappointed
-Skyrim
-Deus Ex 3: Great game.
-Fallout 3: couldn't get into it
-Deadspace: couldn't finish, too linear & repetitive.
-Just not into ME3 or The Witcher 2 for some reason...

Have you played any of the STALKER games? If not, give a try at least to Shadow of Chernobyl (the first, out of the three titles of the trilogy).

+1 on this. It's technically an FPS, but it has a good dose of RPG.

For something old, HOMM 3

The OP mentioned F.E.A.R and honestly I enjoyed it when I played it. Great AI and fun gun battles. Not much of a story, at least I don't remember it in much detail.

Not interested in Star Wars. Already played Torchlight (good stuff).

Checking the reviews of Borderlands, looks good so far!

Anyone else?

Borderlands for sure! Ignore people who say it is only good co-op. This assertion is retarded.

Play as a Siren your first time through--it's terribly fun from the beginning to end.

Just started playing Max Payne 3 tonight. Enjoying it a lot great fun. Story driven third person shooter with some cool effects. Not far enough to comment on the plot. Looks pretty good too.

I bought and played Ys: Oath in Felghana from Steam, because I had played one of its versions on SNES. Good fun, great music, but moving with the mouse is frustrating at times. Action/RPG.

Gothic 2 Gold is another RPG on my list of old favorites. There's an old Quake 2 engine game called Heretic 2 that is pretty different as far as shooters go, it's 3rd person. That one can be hard to get working.
