Got my i3-2120 rig with HD6870, plays BF3 beautifully at high settings.

I suddenly realized I'm bored with the games I have. I have played quite a few titles. Anything good I should try? Older and new are fine. I like RPG, Action, FPS, anything is good.

I've played:

-All HL series
-Portal 1 & 2
-BF3: meh
-Diablo 3: disappointed
-Skyrim
-Deus Ex 3: Great game.
-Fallout 3: couldn't get into it
-Deadspace: couldn't finish, too linear & repetitive.
-Just not into ME3 or The Witcher 2 for some reason...

so on.. I'm looking for single player experience.

How is FEAR? Is it too old- how about its sequels? Bioshock seemed okay, too puzzly for me. How is Crysis II? I played 1 for a bit, couldn't finish. Gears of War good?

Any other RPGs I haven't mentioned? I enjoyed small games too - like The Bindings of Isaac.

I've had a lot of fun with Star Trek Online doing the solo PVE content. It really is very playable without spending a dime, the pay-to-unlock stuff is costumes, inventory slots, and slightly better versions of ships. None of that is needed to do well and have fun.

I don't see Borderlands on your list, it's fun solo and I'm told even more fun in co-op.

Pre-order Torchlight 2 on Steam for $20 and get Torchlight 1 to play now.

Not interested in Star Wars. Already played Torchlight (good stuff).

Checking the reviews of Borderlands, looks good so far!

Anyone else?

I'd only suggest borderlands if youre playing coop.

Have you played Metro 2033? Saints Row 3? Batman Arkham Asylum/City?

Borderlands is absolutely awesome offline or online, doesn't matter. I prefer it offline since you don't have to fight over loot or deal with teamates that just run up and grab everything...etc.

One of the best games of recent memory, definitely check it out.

Give a try to Darksiders maybe?

It's fun but it's a console port... I mean... very much one (barely any options to temper with). It's "comparable" (to some extent) to say... games along the veins of Zelda, and maybe with some Soul Reaver (Legacy of Kain) touch to it. I'm interested by the sequel. I do really like the first so far, although I still haven't finished it myself, I'm playing it from time to time, but I do like it.

If not, I'd say maybe you'd want to give a try to Transformers: War for Cybertron (the one they released about two years ago). That or maybe Borderlands like some suggested, I liked it myself, mostly played it (and finished it) off-line, it was amusing generally speaking. Have you played any of the STALKER games? If not, give a try at least to Shadow of Chernobyl (the first, out of the three titles of the trilogy). Then I guess I could recommend some RTS'ing? Maybe give a go to Command & Conquer 3? I thought it was fun (please let's not mention C&C4, a freaking waste, but C&C3 is at least decent if anything, I wouldn't call it horrible), if not then perhaps you'd like either Empire at War (Star Wars) or maybe Universe at War (Earth Assault) which I thought was good (kind of a "sleeper hit" back then, it was developed by some people from Westwood Studios, whom also made Empire at War prior to Universe at War).

I would have a more thorough list but I guess the more I would suggest the older the games would get, I really don't have much to suggest that comes from recent months. If you're still not sure then I would suggest you check out some games list sites like Universal Video Games List or Gamespot, check games categories/genre, and then search for some footage of them on YouTube if you can't find "official" video reviews of them (or do both). Usually seeing footage of them in action is much better and is the closest thing you can get to renting them for a try.

Finally, I inevitably have to tell you that if you don't mind about game age and graphics then you have to check out the games over at GoG.com, some of them are so cheap I'd call them free (the same goes sometimes on Steam during those crazy one day or one week-end sales, keep an eye out for those as well when and if you can).

Dayz Mod for Arma 2 is the best PC game around right now. It's the anti console game.

Been waiting for something like this for a very long time.

Sniper V2 has a good single player campaign, it's definitely challenging. Use's the frost byte 2 engine, looks great plays well and the fatal shots are horrific. Especially funny when you hit a guy and he falls down limp yelling for help from his squad mates, who then come to his aid by throwing him over their shoulder in an attempt to take him to safety ... shoot his rescuer in the leg upon retreat and watch them both bleed to death as they scream for help.

Supreme Commander Forged Alliance, its a hard core PC RTS. Takes some time to become good at it. Don't buy the cheaper Supreme Commander 2 though!

Batman gameplay looks very consoley.

Who cares? And excellent game is an excellent game regardless. No wonder you're bored. If you discount games just based on association to consoles then you might as well just sell your PC now because they all have console associations now. It looks and plays amazing on PC.

Portal 2 and Left 4 Dead 2. With community made maps you have an endless supply of playable content.

Any of the Stalkers. Though I'd start out with the respective Complete mods, for comprehensive fixes that don't overmod the original game too much.

Metro2033 is on sale at a couple of places for $5 right now. I didn't care for it, but lots of people like it. Good atmosphere, rails shooter.

Fallout: New Vegas was better than the original, in many peoples' estimation (mine too).

Borderlands has been suggested by others. I only played solo, and had a love/hate relationship with it. Uninstalled and re-installed it three times before finishing the original campaign.

Crysis 2 is way more on rails than Crysis 1. A more bounded enviornment as well. Had different problems with each one.

Saints Row 3 wasn't my kind of game, but it was dripping with style and panache. Over the top, way over!

FEAR is good. You'll most likely enjoy it if you like single fps.

I would love to replay FEAR but it doesn't play nice with dual gpu cards.

Some other suggestions:

Alan Wake - I'm loving this game. It's great fun.

Singularity - it's the only game in the past year I've not been able to "put down" until I finished it. Great single player shooter.

Dead Island - I've only played it a little, but what I've seen is promising.

Metro 2033 - you have to play this. It's my one "can't miss" game of the past few years.

Minesweeper and solitaire. Graphics are dated, but high addiction factor. Never the same game twice.

Give Mass Effect 1 a second chance (don't start with Mass effect 3). If you liked Deus Ex, I see no reason why you shouldn't like this game also.

I had same problem with Fallout 3 played only a first hour or so and got bored...went back to later and was one of my favorite games of all time!

Stalker series (haven't finished last one) non linear; definately a blast

Metro 2033 (playing now but too linear but ok)

Mass Effect 1 and 2 (best stories and video movies)

Singularity (too hard at first and quit but tried later and really enjoyed and finished)

Company of Heroes (awesome and lots of replayablity, only been playing skirmishes)

Fear 1 with expansions were a blast (audio from enemies was hilarious), Fear 2 was ok.
