Umm why is he dead?

Because I felt like making something horribly depressing, and the death of leonardo is about the most depressing thing I could think of.

Wow, you must lead either the most perfect or a pretty damn uneventful life if this is the most depressing thing you can think of.

The scene where the staypuft marshmellow man exploding in the Ghostbusters Movie, however . . . .:(

Don't turn this around; we're talking about your problems here buddy! :p

Fair enough. Leonardo is like the equivalent of my dad, infact he probably had more to do with my up-bringing than my father did. Him, and Optimus Prime.

I cried when he died.

Leo wears blue, I thought.

Uh yeah dude, Raphael was red.

In the comics they all were red (Although the comic was also black and white). The cartoon changed it.

Nice pic btw

Yep, Donnatello was purple and Michelangelo was orange.

Read above. I drew an oldschool ninja turtle, not one of the pussy newer ones. These guys were badass, think back to the NES cartridges, they all wore read. In the original comics they were all wearing red, though it was black and white for the most part.

where can i learn how to do that with photoshop?

There are a lot of good sites out there that will teach you special PS affects, as well as the basics.

One of my favorites has always been Photoshop Cafe. Lots of great tips there.

As far as making images like this, it's really in developing your own style and technique. I lay down all of the solid colours first after cleaning the sketch up. After deciding on the lighting scheme, I add shadows and other affects to each area of the drawing, and then do general affects afterwards. This isn't very descriptive, but I'm also at work and need to be quick.

If you want I can e-mail you the PSD and you can take a look at the different layers I've used, it should give you a much better idea.

Leo was the leader, and always the strongest. Without him the turtles were nothing, they couldn't make up for the loss of him. That was why I chose him, though he's a fictional character, Leo represented pure courage and strength to many people growing up. The death of him is like the death of innocence and strength in good, making it the most impactful to look at.

I don't think it would have the same affect, or to the same degree, had it been another turtle.

Yeah it is, that doesn't mean it doesn't mean anything. Everyone I know who grew up with the turtles finds this touching, to whatever degree. I just did it because I wanted to make a cool drawing with some emotion, this was the first thing that came to mind. What I said still stands though.
