Borderline noob question

I own a NEC 20WMGX2 widescreen monitor which has a built in TV tuner. If I want to watch some football games in HD is it possible to do so? (or will it depend on my cable provider)

I do not know too much about how Cable works and such, but if someone could help me out that would be great.

Your monitor has an NTSC tuner, so you're not going to be getting HD out of that. You'll need some sort of satellite/cable/ATSC tuner (as per your connection type - an ATSC tuner is not going to work for digital cable) that connects via component, VGA, DVI, or HDMI.
