The Vita is a very nice handheld, and it's amazing that they got BL2 to work on it, but fair warning the controls are harder to manage for a FPS than on a PC or console.

The main reason to get a Vita these days is for JRPGs and indies, since Sony isn't making new AAA games for it. I'd suggest going to Amazon and making sure there are already enough games in print or coming soon to last you for years -- don't count on new games coming out.

I'm happy with mine, but you need to keep the above in mind. Get it to play Persona 4 not future shooters.
