Hey everyone -- I just recently got a SB81P w/ a P4530, 2 sticks of 512 Corsair Value Select PC3200, a Sata 74GB Raptor and 300GB Maxtor Diamond HDs...
Well, a week ago my PCI-E XFX 6600gt stopped working, so I RMA'ed it. But since then, my SB81P's been having some interesting problems.
I'm using an old PCI video card now as my replacement (an NVidia Vanta) which previously had been powering my secondary monitor but now is driving my primary. Nothing is plugged into the PCI-E slot. I've done a clean reinstall of windows XP SP2 because a bunch of other errors were happening after my 6600gt died on me; but now, for some reason, Windows gives me a blue screen with a fatal error of STOP 0x0000008E everytime I boot the computer after it being off for a period of time -- e.g., like 4+ hours. However, after I get the error, I can reboot and it enters into Windows. Any subsequent reboot works fine without error at all. It's only after I leave the computer off for a while and then turn it on again I get this error.
Well, anyway, the stop error suggested that it might be a problem with the video driver being used... and I do know that prior to my PCI-E card burning up, onboard video was disabled. Now that onboard video is enabled, perhaps that's the reason things were screwing up? So I went into BIOS and disabled the onboard video and uninstalled the Intel Graphics Drivers... Now, the issue is that once I boot up after the computer's off for a while, I get a Stop C000021a error -- Session Manager Initialization System Process Terminated Unexpectedly blue screen error... Again, however, subsequent rebooting and such makes Windows boot without a hitch.
This is kinda driving me crazy -- I've memtested my memory w/o problem, I've scandisked my drivers, and I've reseated my 2 SATA HD's and my 1 PCI card. Still get this error.
Does anyone have an idea if this is a hardware error (E.g., something's having a problem warming up or something, hence the occurrence of this error only on a cold boot), or if this is software/driver related? Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful.... My last hope is that once I finally get myself my PCI-E card back and reinstall XPsP2 (again for the upmteenth time), things might work out... Also, is there a chance that something could have been damaged when my PCI-E card died on my Mobo?
Thanks!
