bootup password for friend's computer

Okay I've had enough of restoring backups for my friend's computer. Apparently his little ones are getting to the computer and making a big mess of things.

I've had to install the floppy drive recessed into the case so that they stop making deposits of pennies, credit cards, and other things into the floppy (lol). We have a screensaver with password set up, but now they've discovered the power button. Is there a way to enable a bootup password so they cannot get in, thus doing minimal damage?

His system:

Abit BE6
Win 98

Thanks!

One of the first words, besides "mine" a kid learns is "no". They ought to be hearing it now. Either have your friend teach them this friendly work or have em buy a desk with a place to lock the cpu. I have friends that have kids who will stand on top of the kitchen table and yell "shut up" at each other. Because of these kids I went out and did the same, bought myself a desk where I can lock the cpu up. Thy can punch the keyboard all they want, chew on the mouse cord, but they wont break my pc!

Anyway, this would help with using the cpu as a peggy bank.

Have you tried Control Panel/Users? This is good for Win98

Yeah, these kids are spoiled rotten. I've given up trying to 'help' the parents see the error of their ways. This isn't technical support for kids.

Anyhow, I've found something which has worked so far -- we'll see how it goes. It's called '1 Click & Lock' by Softstack.com

Thanks

Bios password, just go into bios setup, security, and enable a startup/bootup password. Unless the discover the bios reset switch on the MB, they can't get past that
