Booting over network?

I always wondered about this: in the BIOS, you can select "INT18 Network Device" as a booting option. This is not Wake-on-LAN, rather it implies using the network as the boot media. Does anybody know how this works? Any link?
Thanks!

I think there should be a software in the main server (Intel LAN Manager???) that is connected to your current computer you want to boot from network. So when you reboot your current computer, the server will act like a boot device to your current computer.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for this info, in this case here's what I'd really like to know:

Can you use booting-over-network (I have a mini-server I can use) to replace bootable floppy disks? I shudder at the thought of using a floppy drive; I boot new OS's from CD's. However, there are always annoying firmware & BIOS utilities that require a bootable floppy! Any info on this?
