booting off scsi cd-rom..problems

Hi,

I have an Asus K7V
Adaptec 2940AU
NEC 40x CD-ROM (SCSI)
SCSI Seagate HDD

I can't seem to get the cd-rom to boot off the winxp cd. It recognizes that the cd-rom is bootable, but doesnt' actually boot off it.

Any ideas? I've set cd-rom as bootable, and make it the first boot device.

here's a workaround if you have a Win 98 boot flopy:
boot to an "A" prompt, load Smart Drive, then:
type D: ( assuming the cd rom is D drive)
then type cd i386
then type winnt
this should work.
