Booting flash USB drive

My old Thrustmaster TQS/FLCS joystick needs to be programmed in DOS mode, so when I need it, I boot my PC with a DOS booting floppy.- As I am about to upgrade my system to a new one without floppy, I tried copying the floppy contents to a flash drive, but I cannot make it bootable.-
That flash drive is able to boot, because I tried it with the Acronis BKP partitions restoring facility and booted OK.-
What should I do ?
Thanks

If your BIOS does not suppport booting from an external USB device, forget it. YOu can Google all kinds of ways to make a flash device bootable. Example - I use Acronis TI-2010's bootable rescue media on a flash drive with my laptop. But to boot to it, I have to hit some keys up front in sequence. It won't do it automatically.
