Booted computer and smelled something weird -- missing gold plate on PSU?

Got the Gigabyte on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B1N07RQ/ref= one-day shipping...yay.. *crosses fingers* Thx for the help everyone. I will update and let everyone know if it works. Next time I will go with Asus or Gigabyte too...

I wonder what I should do with MSI's replacement whenever I get it (5-15 day handling time..hah!)...might sell it since the Gigabyte one I just got is better.

gigabyte are not the overclockers dream they are known to be highly reliable ...asus are very reliable too but you will find a greater deal of over clocking is done with them .. also while your putting that machine back together and this point i am about to make ..is this...look at the brass stand offs that the mobo screws on to..make shure you pay attention to the placement..of the stand offs..

another point which others have not mentioned..considering the way youl old build after cleaning failed....start of with just the power supply and mobo connected..plug in your hdmi...only use one stick of ram at first..if it fails to boot change to the other stick of ram..if your at or past the point of seeing the start up text status for the mobo..ignore this... but after this point plug one device in at a time since i am not shure what shorted out to cause the problem in the first place........................prevention is better than the cure and awareness goes hand in hand...

I am typing this from my computer with the new motherboard...computer works. 🙂 🙂 So it is good to go!!

Now, I noticed something in my task manager..

I have an i5 3470 with turbo boost enabled. It boosts it to 3.6 GHZ, so why is task manager reporting 3.9~ GHZ? I don't have anything overclocked, and as far as I know, the 3470 can only be overclocked with a z77.

Also will I see much of a performance decrease with 1333 mhz of 2x4GB DDR3 Corsair memory? I dont believe the motherboard can overclock the RAM to 1600MHZ because it shows it's set at 1333.

Computer was a little slow when I booted it up and had to reinstall Catalyst CC... i think it's working fine now.
 
in the cpu id program you should be able to display the value of different cores .............and edit preferences to show freq of all four cores frequency in core temp..i think that they are being throttled or fluctuating..well all of the three programs are displaying a different cpu speed...
 
ok try this one open up task manager click the button down the bottom right that says services....next enlarge that screen...next scroll down the list to .....thread ordering ..change that to automatic or enabled start it and save the changes...close off window and reboot computer...
