Bootdaily says they have found prices for R600 products. You decide if this is true or not, I'm just the messenger. :)

QUOTE:
We've been able to confirm pricing on ATI's upcoming R600-series GPUs - here's the breakdown:

R600 $499.00
R630 XT $199.00
R630 Pro $179.00
R610 $99.00

If true, I am curious as to why the R600 would be sold at such a low price. Maybe they are having problems competing with the G80? Again, all speculation.

GTX's can be found for around $530 on newegg. ATI probably needs to sell it at $500 because it's not much faster than the 8800gtx OR they just feel it wouldnt sell well being sold at the rediculous 8800gtx MSRP of $650. The 8800gtx sold at that price because there was no competition... but the R600 actually has competition :Q

The MSRP of the X1900XTX when it was released was $650 (and wiped the floor with the competition). If these prices for the R600 are true... I think we have a product that only competes with the 8800GTX, and doesn't truly best it.

$500 is hardly a LOW price, whoever said that. It's a SLIGHT return toward more REASONABLE GPU prices.

R600 $499.00
R630 XT $199.00
R630 Pro $179.00
R610 $99.00

There's a huge gap there from $500 to $200 so either there's another card in there around $350 or the prices are wrong.

That list lacks an 8800GTS competitor or the prices are wrong.

The GTS is the card to get for most folks so unless ATi comes out with something that both outperforms and underprices the GTS, I'll be getting a GTS. Or if the cooling fan on it sounds like a jet engine, I'll be getting a GTS.

That list is missing all the different models that each chip will have. For all we know the $499 R600 card will be the XT and the XTX will be another $150. Likewise, there is an XL variant planned that will be cheaper than the XT.

$200 will FOREVER be my limit for a video card. Prices are outrageous.
Hmm... Which one should I spend my money on? The mortgage, or that new GTX?

Not gonna get much for your money in 10 years when $200 is worth $125 in todays value

Prices seem to be a bit higher than NVidia in the midrange, and we don't have enough tech specs (eg: shaders) yet for 630/610. I am looking forward to see how 630XT compares to 8600GTS and 630Pro to 8600GT on a price/performance basis.

The next month is going to be very interesting.

Personally, I can't wait for the G80 and R600 to duel. Nvidia's been unchallenged top-dog for far too long, they're getting lazy with their drivers.

If true, I am curious as to why the R600 would be sold at such a low price.

Maybe it's because it has a projected 2008 release date. ;) Not such a good price then huh.

If those prices are correct, then I doubt that r600 beats the G80 at all.

There's no way they would charge less for a better-performing card, even if they are late to the game.

LOL, seems there's a bit too much info missing there.

haha it isn't that I think you are wrong, but I hope guys from AMD/ATi aren't reading this and thinking... hmmm maybe we should charge $50 more to convince them.

I dont think R600 is going beat G80 if it only costs $499 for the top dawg.

This reminds me of the R580/G71 battle. Nvidia couldnt beat X1900, so upon releasing G71 they fired the first shot of the price war. The result was that a 7900GTX could be had on launch day for $479.

Although G71 was a far less complex chip that had good yields, who knows about R600. I would think a chip this complex would cost a ton to develop and manufacture.

I'm gonna call shens. We'll see X2900XTX for $650 on newegg when it launches.

who cares about pricing, we know it will be competitive. performance is what matters.

Everyone without infinite amounts of money in their wallet.

Seriously I find your thought to be very pretentious. As if $499.99 or $599.99 or even "just" $399.99 would be "nothing to worry about". If only trees could grow money indeed.

Does anyone have any decent idea as to when the card may launch? Any general areas? Within the month? Within the next 3 months? Next 6? Next year? Ect... Any idea at all will help me out. I am going to be buying an 8800GTX in the upcoming month or so, but if the R600 will be coming out shortly, then I will have reason to wait.

Two weeks from now or so, more or less, probably more than less based on ATI's track record lately. :p
