MrDudeMan

Lifer

i have been trying to make a slipstreamed copy of my windows xp pro cd with SP2 and it just wont work! no matter what i do, it will not boot from CD after the POST. ive used nero and magic iso, so what the hell is the problem?

this is a legal copy of windows just so everyone knows. please help...im tired of installing and needing to DL SP2.

Are you sure you're burning a bootable ISO/Image? Are you burning at the lowest possible speed?
Those are the only two things I can think of really, at this point. 🙁

Hi, You have to tell NERO that you want it to be bootable. Don't remember where in NERO. Easy to find in Roxio/adaptec.|

Good Luck, Jim

Look at your cd's content, and this is what you should see with a slipstreamed XP Pro + SP2:

CD

The key is the bootcat.bin file and where it is located. If your original XP CD is bootable, and it works, and you follow the correct slipstreaming procedures outline many times on this forum, the resultant new CD should boot.

maybe i wasnt clear. the slipstreamed ISO works fine. its that i cant get it to boot. ive used this same ISO before and made a bootable CD, so i know it works. it should be very easy to burn it with nero but it just wont boot. ive tried like 5 CDs and followed all of the guides.

Apparently the slipstreamed ISO isn't fine - the bootcat.bin may be in the wrong place. BTQ - as a Mod, you should know better than to post the same thread in 2 forums. 🙂

that was my bad. i posted it in the wrong forum by accident and reposted in the right forum.

anyways, I slipstreamed my win 2k pro cd. I extracted the cd, then all I did was just update the I386 folder. I'm not sure if it's the same process for win xp.

here's an idea: dl nlite and use it to slipstream you perfect copy and then have it create a bootable image. then burn it with nero. in order to do in manually, you need to use a program to extract the windows cd boot image and then choose bootable in nero and show it the img. just use nlite.
