I have a bootable ISO image I would like to transfer to a USB flash drive and make the flash drive bootable, any recommendations on how to do this?

EDIT: For future reference I used grub4dos to directly boot the ISO. Worked great.

You can do a google search as well as I can.

One of the problems with an os install such as windows xp is that the usb ports may be reset during the install. There are workarounds out there for this but I haven't done it.

I've always wondered why microsoft doesn't formally support this.

It is certainly doable - but your system BIOS must support booting from a USB port. My Lenovo T60 does, and it is an easy selection. I have my Acronis TrueImage bootable Rescue Media burned to a flash drive, and it works just fine.

Your ISO file must be for a flash drive, and not a CD or DVD. Here is the content of a bootable CD:

bootmenu.bin
bootwiz.bin
f11.cfg
kernel.dat
mouse.com
ramdisk.dat
splash.run

Here is the same program burned to flash media:

bootmenu.exe
bootmenu.xml
bootwiz.cfg
bootwiz.sys
C1.png
dat2.dat
dat3.dat
icon_continue_48.png
menulogo.png
mouse.com
SPLE1.exe

The bootable flash drive will not work on my older desktop - no BIOS provision for USB device boot.
