Boot up question

I've never tried to boot a computer up for the first time that has a dvd drive in it so, what boot disk should I use? I can't get the normal one to work for my dvd drive. I would look at bootdisk.com, but it won't work right now. Ideas?

Use a 98SE startup diskette. It will load a generic CDROM/DVDROM driver to give access in "DOS".

Check your cables and jumper settings.
I don't know what settings you have but
if you have it on same channel as hd and
they are both masters it could give you
problems. Also does the dvd power up
any leds come on?

It creates a "dos" drive thats why letters may be off.
List the steps you take and when does it give you the error
message
