Could anyone suggest what may be wrong with my system.

It's around 5 yrs old (p3 700 o/c to 820), and just recently started to occasionally hang on boot up accompanied with a single (lasting) tone. The occurence has been increasing and it sounds as though some hardware is going to fail. The problem seems to be getting worse as I lost my printer today and experienced a few crashes when running"word". Prior to this the system has been rock solid.

My suspicions are the hard drive but if anyone else has any ideas I would appreciate it.

Is this all under the same install? Is this the same install for the past 5 years?
