Boot up problems

My system is around 5 yrs old (p3 700 o/c to 820). Just recently it has started having problems, mainly on boot up. Basically there is a continual beep and the system hangs as it enters windows. More worryingly are the occasional crashes which are also developing whilst in windows.

Any ideas

I did clock my ram up around 3 yrs ago which may make sense with your suggestions/solutions.
