Boot UP Problem

Hi All

I recently added another 4g ram to my rig.
When I hit the power button the pc fails to boot for 2 times.
On the 3 reboot the machine starts. NB: It does this automatically.

Cpuz shows the Ram timings as: 9 9 9 28
Although the ram is marked as: 6 8 6 24

Pc is not overclocked. I disabled it b4 putting the new ram in.

What could it be?

I'm confused. It fails to boot properly the first two times, but on the third try, it successfully boots. Are you still having trouble booting the PC?

9-9-9-28 is normal for most DDR3-1333 and DDR3-1600 memory, but you may have to change the timings in BIOS to get those aggressive numbers.

Looks like you'll need to manually tweak memory timings in the BIOS. This may resolve the issue.

I've seen various issues over the years when all memory banks are filled, and something goes wrong...for example, my old MSI 939 mobo is fine with all four banks filled if I'm using a GeForce 8-series or earlier video card, but the mobo will not even detect a 9-series or later video card until I empty one memory bank. Weird.

The behavior you're describing sounds like the BIOS trying to dial in the appropriate timings for your RAM. If it does this on every boot, check your CMOS battery. You may also need to just set the memory timings manually as Slugbait suggested.

Is the RAM on the board's QVL? (tested list)

It might just be RAM compatibility issues.

The pc boots fine but only on the third attempt. And it does this by it self. It is weird.

I have tried already to set the timing manually but nothing changes.

I'll fiddle around a bit more and see what happens.

It might just be RAM compatibility issues.

The RAM is not on the Asrock list but the 4gb set worked just fine.
Only when I added 4gb more it started this odd behaviour.

Try swapping the slots the DIMMs are installed in.

Also try using just the new RAM.
