Boot up Problem

hi there. this problem baffles me, hopefully you can help!

ecs k7s5a/ amd 1700+/ seagate 40gb hdd

the problem is really at boot. and it doesn't happen all the time, just randomly.
sometimes when i boot up, windows prompts me as if i hit f8 or something. asking me if i want vga mode, etc.

i have no idea what the problem could be, tried reformatting, different bios settings, etc. no luck.
windows xp professional installation.

any ideas? its a random occurence, so it makes it hard to pinpoint.

The k7s5a is a power sponge. Try a heftier PSU. Check the K7S5A FAQ on http://www.ocworkbench.com for tips on PSU for that mobo.
