Boot-up Problem with Chaintech 7-SID

I have a 7SID and recently it is having problems booting up.
When I switch on the PC, the floppy light comes on and it tells me my BIOS is corrupted & it is now in 'boot block' mode. It also wants me to insert system disk. If I then switch off the PC by powering off using the button on the PSU, then flick the switch back on, then boot up the PC in the normal manner, it boots up with no problem.
What's the matter with the board? Do I have to reflash the bios? If so how can I reflash? What should I do if the aforementioned method doesn't work anymore? How can I recover the BIOS?
This problem started today, and my PC is nearly 6 mths old. The problem is so wierd that I tested it by powering off then back on again (not rebooting), and it happens everytime I tested it.
What's wrong?? The computer is very important as I need it for assignment work.
Pls note that the BIOS date is 6 Aug 2001 & I have not flashed it. The problem just appeared out of the blue today.
The PSU I'm using is Enermax 365w (AMD approved).
 
not sure..but can you.. on the poweroff by switch at PSU reboot.. access the BIOS and change your boot order to 1st boot device HardDrive 0 then 2nd boot device CDRom(plain ..not SCSI or USB..unless that is what you have for a CDRom) disable Floppy Seek,3rd Boot Device(unless you have one..) and Boot other Devices..Save to CMOS and see what comes on the reboot..if it goes well..good.. if not ..put things back the way they were in the BIOS and try a different approach..I won't suggest turning BIOS virus protection off in the BIOS..but you never know)..................
 
No, I can't get into the BIOS as all it tells me is to insert system disk & on top of the screen it says 'boot block' (which I presume is the recovery mode for corrupted BIOS). It also say CMOS checksum error.
The thing is, after 2 or 3 tries in switching off & on, the pc will boot-up sucessfully and everything functions normally. Seems that the BIOS sometimes works but sometimes doesn't.
 
pull the power cord out ..open the case..have the Chaintech manual in hand(if its on the CD..and you can print it out do so ) jumper the CMOS/BIOS to "Clear"...flattens the settings..to allow you to start fresh.. Read the manual and any terms/phrases you do not understand meaning/function do a search on it on Google..hope you able to get the bugs out
